14 Travel-Friendly Products You Should Try

| Sunday February 28, 20105 comments
The friendly skies are beckoning for a quickie getaway this time of year.  Between airlines desperate for your dollar and winter's unwillingness to fade into daffodil oblivion, your tax refund is looking mighty timely for a well-deserved splurge abroad.  But with tight TSA/CATSA restrictions, you need to pack your carry-on luggage for convenience and security's approval.

First, you need a few essentials - should the airline lose your luggage (sound familiar?) - so you aren't caught high and dry at your destination.  Start with the whimsical Painterly Tote from Old Navy that recently caught our attention: at $19.50 CAD/$16.50 USD it's a steal.

*Burt's Bees 7-piece Radiance Healthy Glow Kit includes body wash, lotion, facial moisturizers for day and night, lip balm, and exfoliating soap.  $19.99 CAD/$15 USD

*LUSH's Godiva Solid Conditioning Shampoo saves space and money - 1 bar is equivalent to 3 bottles of shampoo.  $9.45 CAD/$9.25 USD

*CARGO gives a 7-minute makeover with 7 essential beauty products, including base, eyeshadows, eye liner, blush, gloss, and mascara.  CARGO 7 in 7 Mini Kit retails for $39 CAD or USD

*Victorinox Swiss Army Travel Alarm Clock, $595 CAD/$550 USD

For your in-flight comfort, we suggest:

*Biotherm Aquasource Biosensitive SOS Hydrating Spray to quench your travel-weary skin; $20 CAD/$18 USD

*Rocky Mountain's aromatherapies for Headache and Jet Lag, $15.99 CAD each

*Kiss My Face 'Olive My Body' balm is perfect for chapped elbows, knuckles, and heels.  $10 CAD/$8.95 USD

*Cake Beauty Milk Made Mani-Cured hand pampering set includes hand exfoliating scrub, lotion, and a keychain nail file

So, you made it to your destination in one piece and are excited to meet up with your long-distance lover.

*Camouflage those little imperfections and (let's be real) under-eye circles before you hit the kiss 'n greet.  Confessions of a Concealaholic by Benefit comes with every blotch banisher you will need, and won top marks from the ladies of ChickAdvisor HQ; $44 CAD/$36 USD

*Flashlites Smile Touch-Ups are available as 7 single-use tubes to freshen breath and whiten teeth.  $12 CAD/$10 USD

*Try to uncrease that pillow wrinkle from your face with Marcelle's Essentials 1st Wrinkle Eye Contour Cream, $27.50 CAD

*Finally with your honey and ready for some cuddle time, whip out Cake Beauty's 5-piece indulgence set, which includes decadent bath foam, bath mousse, and hand cream (but not parabens, phthalates, and petrochemicals!).  $28 CAD/$25 USD

I don't think the items in this are super overpriced, especially when you consider how much full size versions of some of the products cost. I tend to sort of "upgrade" a lot of beauty products when I travel though just to pamper myself. That said, no way in heck am I travelling with a $500 ANYTHING, let alone an alarm clock. I did recently buy the Lush Godiva shampoo bar though, I'll be sure to review it once I've used it.

That clock definitely is over-priced. But I found the rest of the items to be well within a reasonable price considering the quality and array of products that some of the sets come with. Just my opinion :)

I like the idea of buying that Biotherm Hydrating Spray. I remember how much the air in the airplane dried up my skin when taking a trip to Paris. Yuck! My skin was almost peeling off! That would definitely be a life-saver. I'm bookmarking a couple of these items to try out! They look like good deals! Except for the alarm clock of course, lol. I bought some cheapo one at Chapters for my trip!

Good point lalaland. Keep in mind, though, that some of these are from very high end brands that if you bought the items separately would be very costly indeed, even if you bought cheap brands instead. The CARGO 7-in-7 set in particular is a very good deal, considering what's all included! I actually like these sets for the very reason that you can test out an expensive line for the drugstore price to see if it's worth the extra expense to start investing in their other products.

These items are not very affordable... (especially that ridiculously priced alarm clock at $500 !). Suggestions for future articles to include items at a lower price.
