4 Fashion Switches To Make This Summer

Posted by Alexandra C. | Wednesday June 19, 20137 comments

When it gets to the point in summer where you step outside and immediately start sweating profusely, it's easy to reach for the same summer uniform again and again. It's comfortable and you don't have to think. Here's the issue though: you aren't looking as fabulous as you could.

You chicks are adorable little creatures, so why aren't you showing it off?

With a few fashion switches, you can take your daily outfit from bland to 'BAM!' and you won't be sacrificing any comfort! They're small little changes that pull your outfit together making you look chicer, classier and like you've spent hours thinking about all the little details.

Swtich #1: Ditch the flip flops and rather opt for flats or sandals

Don't get me wrong, I love flip flops but they have their time and place. They're awesome for the beach and for quick trips out. But for shopping, lunching or work try a more formal and professional flat or sandal. A flat looks as though you've put more thought and effort into an outfit.

1. Joe Fresh Ballet Flat (C$29.00)

2. Looking Up-tempo Flat in Cobalt (US$32.99)

3. Zara Flat Sandals with Straps (C$45.90)

4. Zara Pointed Flat Sling Back (C$99.90)

5. Seychelles Know What I Mean Flat in Pink (US$89.99)

6. J Crew Pavia Patent Midheel Wedges (US$218.00)

7. Zara Pointed Ballerina With Ankle Strap (C$45.90)

8. H&M Ballet pumps (C$14.95)

Switch #2: Proper Undergarments

Alright, it's time to put those lady lumps where they belong. Proper underwear, whether bras or undies, can make or break an outfit. Your clothes look better on you when you have the support you need. Remember, no VPL (visible panty line)! For a smooth, sexy finish, try shapewear or a seamless thong.

1. Jockey Skimmies Slipshort Style (C$16.50)

2. Commando Solid Thong (C$20.00)

Switch #3: Put a Belt On it

Add a belt to your outfit to cinch in your waist and create a curvy figure, even if you need a little help in that department. A great colourful belt can also add some life to a boring, monochrome outfit.

1. Merona Skinny Belt with Harness (US$4.54)

2. Merona Skinny Belt (US$12.99)

3. Brave Beltworks Bow Belt (C$10.99)

4. Madewell Arrowcut Skinny Belt in Patent (US$35.00)

5. Gap Neon Belt (C$17.99)

Switch #4: Clutch it, Don't Tote it

A large tote is perfect for those days when you need to cart around everything (including the kitchen sink), but a big bag adds bulk to your frame. Try cross body bags, hand bags or a clutch that flows away from your frame and doesn't over power you.

1. Forever 21 Zigzag Raffia Clutch (C$19.80)

2. ASOS Leather Shopper With Spot Cut Out Detail (C$134.55)

3. Top Shop Leather Clutch (C$81.35)

4. Fossil Austin Small Flap (C$98.00)

5. Rebecca Minkoff Mini M.A.C. Clutch in Purple (C$225.00)

I love flats! I've got so many that I think they're the dominate type of shoe I have.

I love the shoes that are featured on this post. I'm a huge fan of flats and sandals. I normally don't wear flip flops a lot, because I always trip... haha. Those belts are super cute too.

I was just looking for some slipshort's to wear under a dress I just bought, but do you think I could find some in my size, NO! I ended up having to buy this other thing that goes right up to my bra and almost to my knee's. Companies really have to start remembering that we're not all size 8 and up, some of us are smaller and still need to look and feel good.

I can't shop in the kids section because I don't want to walk around with cartoons on my clothing, but I also can't shop in the women's section because nothing is made small enough for me. This is one big reason why I have such a hard time changing my look and have bin stuck for years now!

Is anyone else in the same boat as I am?? Ok I'm done now, I just had to let that out. LOL
