Bad economy or not, the change of seasons is nearly upon us and the question on everyone's mind is, What will be the wardrobe staples this year? The major Spring/Summer 2009 runway shows revealed both new and classic trends. Here are your 5 spring must-haves for 2009:

1. A pencil skirt

All the buzz is that 2009 is the year of the skirt! Every shape and length is in. A great black semi-casual pencil skirt is a must. It looks great with a t-shirt and strappy sandals or you can dress it up with a sheer ruffle blouse and a chunky heel.

2. A blazer

Throw out that polyester two button shoulder padded number and update your look with a boyfriend blazer. It's the oversized and longer version with princess seams to give it shape when you wear it open. The best part about this look is it can go from day to night. For daytime pair it with your favorite skinny jeans, a rocker tee and cuff up the sleeves. A sexy night time look is as simple as throwing your blazer over that over embellished mini-slip dress (think Gweneth Paltrow).

3. Bangles

Forget the dainty thin gold and silver and load up on thick chunky multiple bangles on each wrist. Be daring and mismatch shapes and colors!

4. A headband

Dianne Von Furstenburg had them all over her runway show! But simplicity is not the way to go with your headband this spring; think bohemian chic. You want flowers and bows in bright shades of coral, yellow and cobalt.

5. Cage shoes

They are the new gladiators! Yves Saint Laurent had these shoes all over the runway and everyone was buzzing about them. Look for shoes with cut-outs in geometrical shapes. Go bold or go home with your footwear this year!
