8 Summery Frozen Treats

Posted by Alexandra C. | Thursday July 11, 201312 comments

I cannot handle this heat, ladies. Walking outside is like walking into an oven. Who's with me?

But enough complaining. We want to look on the bright side (scratch that, we want to look on the cool, air conditioned side) of this summer instead. To help keep a cool head, I've been chilling out in the kitchen.

For example, I was inspired by our spa water recipes and have been spiffing my water up with fruits and herbs to give it a little kick. Recently, I've also been experimenting with flavoured ice cubes. It's double-duty as taste and function and can be used in juices and cocktails, too.

Here are 8 flavourful frozen ideas to help you make the most of a hot summer:

#1: Fruits and herbs frozen in ice means yummy berry flavour plus antioxidants. Use whichever fruits or combos of fruits and herbs that you want!

#2: These cubes are made with nectarine juice and a basil leaf sounds great on their own but added into a strawberry daiquiri? YUM.

#3: Have some leftover coffee? Freeze it in an ice cube tray and add to Bailey's or milk!

#4: So while not technically a beverage, it is frozen and an easy treat. Melt some chocolate, pour into tray and pop in a strawberry for simple chocolate covered strawberries

#5: While you can totally eat these flowers, it's mostly about presentation. Perfect for parties and gatherings!

#6: Not technically an ice cube but frozen grapes make wonderful "healthy" treats and can be used as ice cubes in wine.

#7: I had actually never considered frozen watermelon before, but now I can't believe how I've lived without it for so long. Tutorial right here.

#8: Yogurt can be frozen for delish bite-sized froyo pieces to enjoy on their own or used in a smoothie. Add a berry or even chia seeds for a healthy boost.

Those all look delicious and would definitely be great with the humid heat we've been getting lately! I love the all the above but would definitely be trying those frozen grapes soon since I have a bottle of wine in the fridge upstairs! :)

I love frozen grapes, too. I learned that trick when going to Weight Watchers.. It takes longer to eat them, so it feels as though you have a larger snack. Frozen watermelon sounds great too!

Yum! I love frozen grapes (just to much on, and to cool down white wine), but I've never tried any of the others. I will for sure be testing the chocolate/yogurt and strawberries! The flowers are also adorable.
