Cocktail Recipe: The Nutella Martini

Want to know how to have quite possibly the best day of your life? Get a jar of Nutella. That's it.

Nutella, with it's perfect combination of chocolate and hazelnut is one of my favourite things in the world, which why I thought it would make an amazing cocktail- and I was right.

Here's what you'll need:
1 1/2 cups milk
1/3 cup of chopped hazelnuts
2 tbsp Nutella (or another similar spread)
1 tsp vanilla
1 shot Irish cream
Splash of spiced rum, brandy, vanilla vodka or a liqueur for flavor (optional)

For rimming the glass:
Chocolate
Finely chopped hazelnuts

Steps 1-3

Using a mortar and pestle, crack 1/3 cup of hazelnuts. If you don't have a mortar and pestle handy, you can also chop them in half.

Melt 2 tbsp of Nutella in microwave. Microwave for 30 seconds, add a splash of milk to the dish, stir and melt for about 20 seconds more until it is a liquid syrupy consistency.

Pour the milk into a saucepan, on medium high heat.

Steps 4 and 5

Stir the Nutella into the milk and keep stirring at a fast pace until the Nutella is completely merged into milk.

Add in hazelnuts and let the mixture sit on medium heat, stirring occasionally.

Step 6

Add 1 tsp of vanilla to mixture and stir. The mixture shouldn't boil over, but should be hot. Once hot enough, strain the mixture into a pot or bowl using a sieve. You can use a ladle or spoon to pour into glasses.

Rimming the Glass

To rim the glass, use the same method as the Mint Chocolate Martini. Melt some chocolate in a bowl and in a separate bowl, prepare finely chopped hazelnuts.

Dip the rim of the glass, upside down, into the melted chocolate. Then, dip the rim into the hazelnuts. You can also roll the glass on it's side, lightly pressing it into the hazelnuts and rotating it.

Step 7

Add shot of Irish cream and to add some flavor, try adding a bit of spiced rum, vanilla vodka or a flavored liqueur of your choice.

Step 8

Add the Nutella and hazelnut mixture to the glass, sit back, relax and enjoy!

Alex that look so yummy!! My kid never like Nutella, so I don't keep it in the house. This looks so good I just might go see if I can find a small jar to give this a try. Do you know the shelf life of Nutella after its open?
