DIY Quickie: Drying Your Makeup Brushes

Not too long ago, I confessed my worst beauty secret: I almost never clean my brushes. However, I recently invested in a stippling brush for my foundation, so I've been trying to take better care of my brushes. Instead of just purchasing cheapies upon cheapies and tossing them when they're dirty, I am trying to buy one and clean it on a regular basis. As I've mentioned before, this is also good skincare for avoiding acne.

In fact, I just washed my brushes last weekend! Yay me! When it came time to dry my brushes, I knew that you aren't supposed to dry your brushes with the fluffy side up because water seeps down into the wood, ruining your brush. However, putting them in fluffy head first into a container can mean that it takes them far longer to dry. I decided to lay my brushes out on a towel on a flat surface. I figured this was as good as it was going to get.

Then I came across a nifty little DIY trick that helps keep your brushes in top top shape and also helps them dry quite fast. Plus, it's convenient and space efficient.

This is what you'll need for this quick DIY brush dryer:

1. Brushes (obvi!)
2. Masking or Painter's Tape
3. Pants Hanger

First, take a strip of the masking tape, sticky side up and place all the brush handles on it. Next, take another strip of masking tape, and stick this on top, securing all the brush handles. Take this strip and clip it to the pants hanger. Use a hook, nail etc. to hang up your brush hanger and let them dry! This is great because you can dry all your brushes (no matter what size) in one place and it doesn't take very long.

I use a multi rack pants hanger and just clip the bottoms to it. I do it at night so in the morning they are dry.

That's exactly how I dry my brushes - using pant hangers. :)

Great idea (: I lay mine over the side of the counter and use a dehumidifier. Dry in no time.
