Making news this morning is not only the (supposedly shocking – but I’m not buying that) exit of Ellen DeGeneres from megahit American Idol but rumours of cohost Kara DioGuardi’s ouster as well.  With Simon Cowell gone, we’re wondering what, other than our genuine like of Randy Jackson, will have us tuning in next season? 

On a personal note, it won’t be the caterwauling hopefuls auditioning only to get on the blooper reel or the scruffy Ryan Seacrest who I’ll admit I found adorable for about 3 minutes in the early years.  It also won’t be to watch talent I love and support suffering through heinous themes  and song choices that only serve to garner cringing sympathy.  No – I watched the show for Simon and the truly brilliant moments when talent-who-didn’t-know-it-was-talent suddenly got its due.


Who will replace DeGeneres (and possibly DioGuardi)?  Names like P.Diddy, Jessica Simpson, J.Lo, and Aerosmith’s Steven Tyler have been bandied about, along with the ever fascinating Courtney Love.

Who would you like to see in the judges’ seats?  Can anyone replace Simon?  If they can’t even properly replace Paula Abdul, we have our doubts.
