Going Red Like Blake Lively

Posted by Siofan | Tuesday May 3, 201112 comments

Last week at the Time 100 Gala, where the magazine celebrates its list of the 100 most influential people in the world, Blake Lively debuted her new red hair. Her new look made her the most talked about celebrity to walk the red carpet that night, cementing her influential status.

Whether you're known for your signature blonde locks like Blake, or are thinking of going from brunette to red, here are some products that will help keep your ginger hue rich and vibrant.

Trying red for the first time? You may want to go semi-permanent to see how you like it. Or there's opt for a vibrant permanent shade if you don't have commitment issues.
Garnier Nutrisse Nourishing Color Creme in Pomegranate (C$12.45); L’Oreal Superior Preference Fade-Defying Colour & Shine System (C$14.69); Clairol Nice ‘n Easy Perfect 10 in Ginger in a Snap (C$17.29)

Once you've got that gorgeous colour, make it last longer by treating it right. Red hair pigments are the smallest (compared to blondes and brunettes) which causes that shade to fade the fastest. Use hair products that will combat fade, and keep hair looking vibrant with regular deep moisture and protective treatments.
1. John Frieda Radiant Red Colour Magnifying Conditioner (C$9.17)
2. Tresemmé ColorThrive Brunette & Red Shampoo (C$7.15)
3. Marc Anthony Moisture Gloss Colour Extender Daily Drops (C$10.25)
4. Bumble & Bumble Color Support Conditioner For True Reds (US$23)
5. Ojon Color Sustain Color Revealing Shampoo (US$22)
6. Redken Color Extend Rich Recovery (US$17.45)

Have you gone red? What are your favourite products for keeping it vibrant and healthy?

I'm surprised to say I like it! Her makeup is also more subdued to go with it. Looks great! But yes, red hair is high maintenance.

Wow she looks so good!.. and a little bit like the little mermaid in the second image. I don't want to go back to red anytime soon though.

I love it. I never thought she would be the type to change her hair colour. But it is stunning, especially with the rippling curls. It would look better if she wasn't so overly tan though.(skin and hair match too much) Although I think everyone should go red once, It's so much fun!

I love red hair, but I don't know if I like it on Blake...she suits blond a little more in my opinion...

I like Blake's red hair, but I don't think it's anywhere close to Christina Hendricks' knockout red hair. It's nice for now but I do think that Blake should go back to blonde eventually.
