Highlights From The Royal Wedding

Well royal watchers and wedding enthusiasts, what did you think of the wedding of the century (yes, we're only eleven years into the century, but we'll call it for now)? Here are our picks of our favourites from the wedding watched round the world.

The Dress

I'm hearing it compared to the wedding gown of Princess Grace of Monaco (Grace Kelly), and that was my first thought, too. It has all the modern simplicity that we love but also felt traditional and royal. The tiara (Cartier, and in the royal family since 1936) had a similar shape to Renaissance styles, so the overall effect to me was very regal and perfect for the occasion. - Claire

Kate in her Sarah Burton designed gown and Cartier tiara; Grace in her Helen Rose (an MGM studio costume designer) designed gown in 1956.

The Vows
I thought it was really endearing how nervous both of them looked during the vows—Kate especially. She looked like she was going to toss her cookies. But then after William says his vows he smiles at her as she says hers and you can see his tenderness towards her, sort of encouraging her that she can get through it. I thought that was very romantic. Can you imagine the pressure she must have felt up there? It's scary enough saying your vows at your wedding but having the entire world watching would be terrifying. She's clearly very relieved by the time they are up at the balcony waving to the crowds. - Ali

Did you catch the vows live? If not, watch them here.

The Carriage
And I loved the carriage they rode in after the ceremony. It's 109 years old and the same one that most of the royals ride in post-ceremony (including Charles and Diana). The red interior is so beautiful and totally made it feel like a fairytale to see them riding in it and all the horses and guards surrounding them. - Cathy

Kate's Reaction to the Crowds
I also loved her reaction upon stepping out on the balcony. You could see her say "Wow!" to the crowds, and the second kiss after their first (disappointing?) peck was the perfect way to show the crowds that even though they're royalty, they are responsive to their adoring public. - Claire

Missed them greet the crowds on the balcony? Watch the video here.

The Flower Girls
The old actor saying "Never work with children or animals" was never more true than at this royal wedding where the little bridesmaids were the only thing that could possibly distract us from the bride (and her and her new husband's kisses). From the carriage ride they took with Prince Harry post-ceremony to waving on the balcony, they were a delight. Our favourite had to be Grace van Cutsem who's reaction to the RAF planes overhead was superbly timed. - Siofan

The Artful Fascinators and Hats
Nothing puts the eccentricity in "British eccentricity" like the hats, headpieces and fascinators worn to dressy events. Guests of the royal wedding did not disappoint. Below are five favourites. - Siofan

Oh my gosh that reception outfit was a stunner! I was in LOVE with the fur bolero. Gorgeous!

Honestly I have serious Royal fever these days. I can't stop watching re-runs and googling them!

Did you see the two of them driving from Buckingham Palace to Clarence House? William had changed his uniform but she was still in her wedding gown. They were in a gorgeous vintage Aston Martin with aluminum cans tied on the back courtesy of Prince Harry. I didn't think that Wills could look any more scrumptious than in the church, but that dark uniform proved me wrong! And I had an encore appreciation for Harry's fun-loving attitude that we saw when he peeked over his shoulder at Kate coming up the aisle.

Also, have you all seen her reception dress? Another gorgeous Sarah Burton!

While the fastener Princess Beatrice wore was absolutely wild, I did love her Valentino outfit.

I absolutely love Will and Kate! Everyone looked stunning at the wedding but I don't know what to think of Princess Beatrice's hat...

Kate's dress was so pretty! It had that formal English look to it that made her look her age...The balcony kiss was too short though!

I thoroughly enjoyed the ceremony! You could sense such warmth and love between William and Kate and it melted my heart when she got to the front and he said, "You look beautiful, I love you". It's so nice to see that it appears these 2 truly love each other! Watching weddings is always wonderful but even more when it's a royal couple who ACTUALLY are in love!

Dress, GORGEOUS. Definitely did not disappoint! Kate look absolutely lovely.

Princess Beatrice's hat.... my first thought when I saw it was "moose antlers". Just awful.

@Ali - AGREED! And the uniform sure didn't hurt the sexiness in any way.

That's hilarious Siofan! I'm sure the little girl had no idea she'd be such a hit!

If you love little Grace's face you can upload a photo and insert her into the bottom frowning. So hilarious!

I don't think I'd ever heard Prince William speak until he said his vows. It was sexy. Agreed?
