New York Fashion Week Spring 2013: Top 10 Picks

New York Fashion Week recently wrapped up it's spring 2013 shows. I love fashion week because it's a chance for me to build my fantasy closet. Don't we all have one of those? I like to take note of my favourite styles and daydream about how lovely I would look in them. Yes, I can't afford anything and no, that doesn't stop me from thinking about them. Le sigh...

Here are my top 10 outfit picks from NYFW and also some of the top trends I am looking forward to seeing come spring 2013. 

(left) Elie Tahari: A tailored two piece suit is very wearable and universally flattering. The watercolour print in shades of tangerine and pink is feminine and elegant. 

(right) Alexander Wang: Love the mixed textures in this outfit and those shoes are incredible. 

(left) Marchesa: The embroidery and detailing in this outfit is absolutely breathtaking. The shades of orange and gold are so exotic. 

(right) J. Mendel: I've never been a fan of purple before this outfit. This print is so interesting, I think we'll be seeing similar ones in Zara and H&M next season. 

(left) Narciso Rodriguez: This slinky, deep V is sophisticated and sexy, especially in the bold red colour. 

(right) 3.1 Phillip Lim: I'm kind of in love with this hot pink moto jacket. I'm a mixed pattern and print fiend as well so this patchwork and floral outfit is calling my name. 

(left) Rodarte: More mixed prints and electric green detailing with black and white. It's edgy and maybe not for everyone, but I think this fitted bodice shape with a flirty bottom is going to be big in spring. 

(right) Proenza Schouler: I am in awe of how cool this print is. The photo print is definitely having a moment this year. 

(left) Thakoon: I think this Asian inspired motif is so beautiful. I hope we see more of it come spring. Judging by the other outfits, I think we can safely say that mid length is totally where it's at for skirt lengths too. 

(right) Michael Kors: How gorge is this cloud print? This one just makes me crave summer like nothing else.
