Post Holiday Health Rescue: 5 Detox Drinks

Friday January 4, 2013 by Alexandra C.

Overindulging is a well known holiday tradition, right? Only, after the holidays are done, Present Alexandra is not such a fan of Past Alexandra's decision to observe that tradition. I don't know about you but I don't think I can look at another plate of turkey. Or mashed potatoes. Or stuffing. And please, don't even offer me any sort of chocolate or cake.

To help get over the post holiday food indulgence slump, we've rounded up 5 detoxifying drinks to get you all revved up. With vitamins, anti-oxidants and great super foods, they're sure to help kick start your resolutions and get you back into your groove.

Drink #1: Green Lemonade

This juice contains apples, kale, celery, and lemon so you reap the benefits of multiple vitamins (vitamin c to name just one) and also a lot of fibre.

Full recipe here.

Drink #2: Banana Honey Smoothie

Milk, banana and honey are used in this smoothie for potassium, vitamin B6, magnesium and vitamin D and it's especially great for any late nights with one too many drinks.

Full recipe here.

Drink #3: Orange Ginger Smoothie

Ginger is said to help with your body's natural detoxification. It's believed to aid in nutrient absorption and help in waste elimination.

Full recipe here.

Drink #4: Metabolism Booting Detox Tea

With cinnamon, cayenne pepper and lemon, this tea promises to curb your hunger and help melt fat.

Full recipe here.

Drink # 5: Golden Detox Drink

Chili powder, tumeric, ginger and lemon are used in this one to help 'wake up' your digestive and immune system. This drink is anti-inflammatory and cleansing.

What's your detox plan for the post holiday food slump?

Part of my new year's resolution is to boost my daily fruit and vegetable intake. These recipes sound delicious and nutritious (very pretty too) and I will try them out. Thanks for sharing.

Just tried drink #5 and gotta say, I liked it. It's got a bit of a punch but it's not too bad. I used some agave instead of stevia.
