Runway Eye Makeup Transferred to Everyday Looks

Runway models are gorgeous. They have perfect skin, bone structure and out of this world features. So basically, they are aliens. Seriously, I once saw Coco Rocha on the street and she didn't even look like she was part of the human race. That's how gorgeous she was. So, when a model wears a particularly avant garde look on the runway, for the most part they 'werk it'. Oh yes I did!

I think that this tends to give us mere mortals a false sense of 'I could totally pull that off'. Like, if they can do it, why can't I? We decided to put it to the test this week and modeled three makeup looks off the Spring and Cruise 2013 runways to see if you can really 'werk it' in real life.

Here are the three looks we tried out:

(clockwise) Mandy: Chanel Spring/Summer 2013, Nicole: Peter Som Spring/Summer 2013 and Alexandra: Chanel Cruise 2013

Mandy - Chanel S/S '13

Mandy used Lancome Color Design Eye Brightening All-In-One 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Midnight Rush (C$54.00). She first layered on a silver shadow, then did a simple cat eye liner over top. We think this one is pretty wearable, though maybe a bit too much glitter for the office it's definitely a contender for any party.

Alexandra - Chanel Cruise '13

I used Marcelle Luxe Eye Dust in Fantasia (C$11.95) and Marcelle Eye Shadow Quad in Ultraviolets (C$15.95). I actually don't mind this look. It is simple to put together because you're basically just applying the shadow all over your upper lid from the inner to the outer corner and all the way up to the brow bone. It's not necessarily flattering for every skin tone, but if pinks work on you this is a fun look.

Nicole - Peter Som S/S '13

Nicole was our bravest model and tried the least practical/functional/wearable do. She started off by putting on a canary yellow colour and then added a teal green/blue underneath her brow bone. Both colours are from the Coastal Scents 88 Original Palette (US$18.95). Next, she blended to create a softer line. We pretty sure we like these two colours separately for a dramatic summer eye. But together, not so much. Though we do give her some major kudos for trying this!

What do you think of these? Would you try any of them out at school or in the office?

Yeah I'd wear the first two, but the last is a little radical for me.

I do like the 2 neutral looks, Mandy and Alexandra's. My least favorite is Nicole's because I think those shades need a darker skin tone than what she has.
