Ask any woman what her one makeup must-wear product is, and chances are she’ll answer “Mascara”. And while we agree that mascara perks up the eyes and gives a fresh-faced finish, it doesn’t quite bring the glam, does it?

We’ve seen runway models season after season strutting down the catwalks in nothing more than a powerful blast of lip colour. So we asked ourselves: could lipstick be the one small change that really makes all the difference?

We did an experiment and all came into work one day sans makeup (it wasn’t an easy sell, let me tell you). After slicking on our boldest lippie colours, we hit the posing wall:

Alexandra gets fresh with fuschia…

…while Tammy’s berry-hued lips make her tawny tones glow.

Resident redhead Michelle goes for a saturated coral colour…

…and Claire plucks a cherry-tomato red.
