Toronto Fashion Week Celeb Sightings

The lounge in Fashionweek’s main tent can be hectic at times. This is where the Who’s-Who of Canadian fashion pack themselves into tight quarters to schmooze and chat about the latest collections in between shows.

On one side of the tent media personalities type frantically, posting their impressions of the last runway show online. On the other side, fashion icon Jeanne Beker interviews designers about their design inspiration.

Amidst the buzzing energy, ChickAdvisor caught up with a pair of talented Canadian actresses before the highly anticipated Lucian Matis collection.

Gemini award winning actress Kristin Booth is already a Fashionweek veteran, and beamed while catching up with co-star and Fashionweek first-timer Charlotte Sullivan.

Both actresses, who will be in the movie Defendor with Woody Harrelson and Sandra Oh later this year, took a break to make an appearance at Fashionweek.

Kristin Booth emulated a modern day femme fatal in a black leather shift dress, fishnet stockings and killer black boots, as she lamented this was the only day she could attend at Fashionweek. Real life duties call -- “I’m renovating my new house!” said Booth.

Booth made the most of her short time at FW, and gushed over an emerald green Carlie Wong evening gown and Evan Biddell’s pleated and corseted superhero-esque dresses.

Charlotte Sullivan stood shyly by, channelling Marilyn Monroe and Gwen Stefani in an eye-catching leopard print trench, platinum waves and scarlet lips.

“I’m a Fashionweek virgin I guess you could say,” said Sullivan, who was planning on just taking it all in, and sticking closely by the ‘hot chicks’: her friends Booth, Amanda Brugel and Kerry Lai Fatt.

After Lucian’s runway show, Booth exclaimed of Sullivan, “she’s been deflowered!” Amongst the flash bulbs and post-show celebration, Sullivan recalled her favourite piece from the show, “the long black gown with grey ruffles” across the bust. “Although I don’t know about the antlers,” she laughs.

I asked Sullivan the possibility of pulling off the models’ larger-than-life wild hairstyle, and she assured me, “the eighties are back – you can rock anything!”

One beef with the show was the sombre disposition of the models, “you get to wear the most beautiful clothes,” says Sullivan, “smile!”

So, the final verdict – is this Canadian talent hooked on Fashionweek? “It was eye-candy” said Sullivan. She will most definitely be back next season, “as long as I’m invited!” she jokes, “I might end up being the girl standing outside banging on the window!”
