Wedding Series: Wedding Dress Trends
When it comes to finding your dream day gown, there are countless options for brides. Any bride who has already been through the process will tell you that finding the gown can be the most frustrating task during the entire wedding planning process! To help you through the myriad of choices, here is my quick guide on the latest wedding gown trends for late 2009 into 2010: Shorter Dresses For non-traditional brides, or even those that might be thinking of doing a destination wedding, a shorter dress is a fun and feminine alternative to your standard wedding gown.
Dress by Cosablanca Bridal There are dozens of options from minis to tea-length frocks. Pair a shorter dress with super hot bridal stilettos, perhaps with some bling on the heel or strap. Sexy Silhouettes The days of virginal, poufy gowns are over (at least for this season)! The dresses on the bridal runways are now sleeker, with unexpected details like a high slit on the thigh, an open back, or a one-shoulder strap. The dresses are cut close to the body, accentuating your figure, so don’t be afraid to go sexy on your wedding day!
Dress: Vera Wang Luxe Callalily A Splash of Colour More and more designers are showing gowns in colour – everything from beautiful oyster gray to summery yellows. Who says you have to dress in white? If a coloured gown sounds a bit too daring, adding a coloured sash to your dress is a hot and trendy alternative.
Dress: Vera Wang Collection 12539 Pockets I have so many brides asking about dresses with pockets right now! Designers have quite a few dress styles with billowy skirts and sweet little pockets sewn into the sides, so if you are a lady that likes the comfort of tucking your hands somewhere, there are plenty of options. Lightweight Fabrics Traditionally, wedding dresses are made from heavier fabrics like bridal satins and silks. One of the hottest trends we are seeing on the bridal runways are flouncy, pretty fabrics like organza and chiffon. The effects can be dramatic, but unlike their satin and silk counterparts, lightweight fabrics are a much cooler option for hot summer days. Even though there are many wedding dress trends that stand out, don't be afraid of being unique and selecting a dress that goes against what is "in fashion". Ultimately, this is your day, so choose a dress that you feel comfortable in and you love.
