What I Wore: Summer Wedding

Over the weekend, I went to a fabulous wedding of a friend of mine. Since this was my first wedding, I had no idea how to dress up! I looked through casual, semi-formal, and was even considering jeans when I found a lovely summer dress at H&M that I decided to go with instead.

This wedding was held during the summer, on one of those super hot nights where wearing anything longer than the length of your knees will make you keel over with sweat. I only attended the reception, so I had to make sure that whatever I was wearing was impervious to belly stretching (due to 10 courses of food), and was formal, yet not too ball-gowny.

This is what I wore to the wedding:

H&M Pink chiffon dress, with a braid strap (C$49.99)
Silver Shoes bought at Winners several years ago.

Though I'm pretty sure H&M still has that pink dress on stock (I was there just two days ago when I saw it), for similar items, you can purchase:

Low-cut Dress with chiffon on the bottom from H&M (C$69.95)
Silver "Leo" High Heel Sandals from DebenHams (C$75.00)

Now that I'm looking back at my outfit, I wish I had accessorized it better. Maybe a long chain necklace or bracelet?

My friends also appeared at the reception with me, with wonderful clothes as well, each depicting a different style. For example, my friend "A" wore a cute, summery silver mid-length dress with similar strappy shoes like my own, while friend "B" wore a sailor-like blue strapless with a sweatheart neckline and white stripes on the bottom.

I was quite happy with the way all three of us wedding-virgins turned out! (Did I mention that I curled all our hair? I'm so proud of myself!).

I would so get that dress, 'cept I have no where to wear it! :( I think with these types of dresses, especially when the neckline is so unusual and sort of Grecian, wearing no necklace / chain would detract from the effect. Maybe a chunky similarly styled bracelet would have been the thing, or ditto for a big ring. But anyways you looked gorgeous just as you were :)
