Yay or Nay: Kirsten Dunst is a Checkerboard

Posted by Alexandra C. | Monday January 21, 201398 comments

Oh em gee. I love Kirsten Dunst. She's so cute and quirky and she was in the cinematic masterpiece known as Bring It On. I also love her because she wore a checkerboard dress from Louis Vuitton's Spring 2013 collection.

Our new co-op Melissa thought that this dress was hideous and did nothing for her shape. At first glance, you might be thinking the same thing. But I'm here to defend Kiki Dunst's choice because I love this dress. I love the neckline, I love the sleeve length, I love how it's a column, shift dress cut.

I know that you're probably all going, 'No Alex, it isn't love, it's lust. It's infatuation. Think about it a little while and look again, you'll see that it's actually super fug'. To that I say, 'Not a chance'. I'm especially in love with the fabric. I love that mustardy brown hue and the sheen of the satin. You guys it's true love, and true love lasts a lifetime.

Kristen Stewart, Kerry Washington and Jessica Alba are all fans of the collection as well (see here) but I still think Dunst worked it the best.

So, are you guys on Team Melissa or Team Alex? Is this totally awful or totally amazing? Leave a comment with your yay or nay vote by January 27th for a chance to win a prize!

I think that dress fits her beautifully, BUT, if it was a different color or a different patern all together, she could have added a betl or something to giver her more deffinition and shape.

Nay! The back is cut cute, but the shape does nothing for her and the length just looks awkward...

It isn't often that I disagree with you @alexjc but .... I dunno, I'm just not feelin' the dress. I like the colour, the sheen, the material, the print .. I just don't like the cut. Look at the part where her butt ends and thighs begin .. see the indenture? You wouldn't see it at all if it wasn't for this dress. Makes girlfriend there look like she has a disproportionate body which we all know she doesn't!

I checked out the link of the other LV dresses and I really like the cut on Alba's dress! Now if that cut was on this dress I would love it. On another note, whats up with Alba's face? Does she have a white mask going on there or is my monitor (or eyes) gone wonky?

Hmm not loving this...doesn't seem very flattering on her body, even though she is the quirky type who would wear this!

Nay. I like the pattern but I think the dress should be shorter.

I have to agree with Melissa. This dress is hideous!! Looks terrible on her as well.

Truth be told I actually kind of like it! It's fun and edgy, yet has a classic look! So a big old YAY!
