Mexican Diet May Cut Breast Cancer Risk

A new study from WebMD. By the way, I suddenly have a craving for quesadillas (who's free for lunch? And, no, I'm pretty sure TacoBell doesn't count)...

A new study shows both Hispanic and non-Hispanic women living in the U.S. may lower their breast cancer risk if they eat a traditional Mexican diet.

If you had $5000....

It's never too soon to start thinking about your financial future. Check out these great tips from Fabulously Broke in the City...

Here's a couple of things you could do (mostly geared to Canadians):

*NEW* CANADA 'TAX-FREE' SAVINGS - You can put up to $5000/year into a tax free account (when you withdraw it, there are NO penalties), and the $5000 isn't taxed. It's Canada's new initiative to get Canadians to start saving. I think it starts in July 2008$5000 = $1100...

Surviving Spring Break

Moms, we are coming up on scary times. I'm talking Spring Break.

Now, we all love quality time with the fam, but this idea of 24/7 for a whole week might just have you up at night dealing with a pesky facial tic that developed shortly after your class newsletter arrived in your inbox reminding you to please not send your kids to school, as the entire staff is enjoying a --much needed, though who'd admit it?-- break.

See? You can admit that you're wondering how...

Food Tastes Better When It Has a Good Story

A funny, yummy post from the Amateur Gourmet...

We ask many things of our food. We ask that our food is clearly identifiable (anything strange and murky immediately turns us off); we ask that our food is reasonably healthy--even if that means laying a redemptive tomato on...

Five spice braised chicken with egg noodle

Yummmmmm, comfort foot with a fun twist from Chez Pim...

Basically this is a very similar recipe to the braised pork belly I posted last week. Using the five spice powder as a base, and chicken legs and thighs in place of pork belly. Whereas pork belly is not something you want to make multiple meals of--unless you're on a quick weight gain regimen for your upcoming Sumo match--you can easily get three or four weeknight dinners out of a big pot of this braised chicken.

And the Woman Bears the Shame

Once again, a man is caught with his pants down. And once again, all eyes are on the woman.

And we're not talking about 'the other woman'. We are scrutinizing the scorned wife. Why is she standing by him? Doesn't she have any self-respect? What will she do?

Obviously we are talking about the recent prostitution debaucle involving disgraced former Governer Eliot Spitzer and his wife, Silda Wall Spitzer.

L'Esguard: quite possibly the worst meal of my life

You want to try something new and enjoy it, but... you just can't. Chez Pim gives a regretful, though humorous, review...

The usual caveats apply and all that, but, in my opinion, I might have finally eaten at what was quite possibly the worst restaurant in the world.

Not that I wasn't forewarned; I should have taken note when Rafael Garcia Santos, the One Man 'Michelin Guide' of Spain, contorted his face into something quite indescribable when I told him we were...
