Anyone who spends any amount of time with me knows how much I tout the benefits of oils. They're super moisturizing and the only thing that helps my poor, dry skin. However, I recently read this article on Beauty Editor and I might just be taking back everything I have ever said.
Apparently, polyunsaturated fats like avocado or almond oil "are liquid at room temperature and have some hydrogen atoms removed", this means that they are "susceptible to attack by free radicals" - i.e. wrinkle causers. This applies to PUFAs you eat or apply topically. PUFAs also lead to oxidation and anti-thyroid effects amoung others. Of course, I am no scientist so read the article for a better description.
Though coconut oil users can rest easy, it's no PUFA!
What do you think of this? Is there any validity? Do you believe it?
