So I found this tip on Pinterest 2 months ago for cheap, at-home teeth whitening (i'm way too poor to afford professional whitening, and those Crest strips make my teeth super-sensitive). So I thought what do I have to lose!
All you need:
Mix 1/2tsp baking soda with 1/4 tsp hydrogen peroxide, and a few drops of water (and you can add a tiny bit of toothpaste too). Mix together and use just like you would regular toothpaste, brushing for about 2 minutes.
You can get a box of baking soda for a few bucks (I use Arm&Hammer;), and you can buy a bottle of hydrogen peroxide at the dollar store for $1. SUPER CHEAP, but works!
It's safe to do this once a week (but no more - baking soda is an abrasive so it'll wear your enamel down, but once a week is safe). Just make sure you don't swallow any of it! (ps: for those of you that are worried about the hydrogen peroxide being
in your mouth, i checked with a dentist and it's safe,
hydrogen peroxide is actually used to clean cuts and sores inside the
- avoid brushing it INTO your gums or it will irritate them
- rinse your mouth out well afterwards (i use mouthwash), because the concoction tastes pretty bad haha
Like I said, i've been doing this once a week for about 2 months now, and WOW the difference is amazing. I drink a lot of coffee (and red wine!) so I have a hard time keeping my teeth really white, and like I said those Crest strips make my teeth hurt so much....but I haven't had any sensitivity problems since starting this. Anyway, if you're on a tight budget but want whiter teeth, I highly recommend this!

All these would whiten your teeth very well! You could also add a few drops of essential peppermint oil or cinnamon etc for breath freshening/flavor...Thanks for posting!

Will have to try this tonight! I have the same problem with Crest whitestrips and sensitivity...even the "30 minute" strips KILL my teeth after about 10 minutes, so I never get the full effect. And I also find that the space inbetween my teeth are hard to reach with the strips, so they stay darker than the fronts of my teeth. This sounds like it will reach everywhere.
Thanks for sharing, will let you know my results!

this is very, cool.
I know once on The View I saw a D.I.Y beauty expert come in and show how to whiten your teeth with BURNT TOAST!!!
She wasn't out to lunch either: http://voices.yahoo.com/best-natural-home-treatments-whiten-teeth-bleached-6791154.html?cat=69

I found this same recipe for "at-home teeth whitening" a few months back and have seem some great results. I add a little bit of my own toothpaste to the mixture for added flavor and added whitening agents. I'd recommend this to anyone, it works really well!

I am SOO gonna try this. As I get older, my teeth are more sensitive, and I have had that painful experience with the white strips. Thanks so much for sharing...gotta go pin on Pinterest so I don't forget!
