I think a new hairstyle is in my near future! I'm getting so bored with my style...It's a little past my shoulders now, side swept bangs, layers. I've pretty much done everything to my hair that looks good on me so now I'm not sure what else to do! Any suggestions on some styles you're diggin' right now?

I know what you are saying...I am bored with mine right now too but I love your hair the way it is!

I also have been going through a phase w/ my hair lately. I've had this month long urge to go short. I just got it cut yesterday to a chin bob -- shorter in back and longer in front. I really like it. I used the instyle magazine flash application to try out new looks on my face.

Thanks a lot, Spotty! Joy and I have just spent the better part of the afternoon trying on different hairstyles thanks to you! Turns out I look pretty good with bangs in my eyes. The Farah do on the other hand was somewhat disappointing ;)

Very addictive! Apparently my hair should be beach wavy and a lot lighter than it is!

I am just scared and I have pretty much given up!!!! My hair is long and it has natural curls. I keep wanting to do something different but I really dont think I have many options because I dont want to go short and I have straitened my hair in the past and sometimes I still do but OMG it takes about two hours because it is so thick.
|You need a good cut :) on Oct 08, 2009 @ 10:45 am|
Hey rugbymom! I used to work at a salon and we used to get women with gorgeous curly hair wanting something different meanwhile us straight-haired gals were jealous lol. You need a really good cut so you can wear your hair curly and straight. If you wear it curly the majority of the time we used to suggest using a small barrel curling iron to define the curls - if your curls are corkscrew curls. Or you could use a med-large round barrel curling iron for defined soft waves. The effect is really polished looking. If you do like to wear it straight your hair stylist should be taking out the heaviness with some texturizing. It should also be cut a certain way so that it sits nicely and doesn't bell out at the bottom. Usually layers are cut on a verticle but it all depends on the type of curl.
I'd say be happy with your hair - I'm sure it's beautiful! I on the other hand will be trying the makeover tool until I can decide on a new style! lol

Ok, this Beautylicious event happening in Toronto could not come at a better time! Who in Toronto is going?? I'm so excited to get my hair coloured and cut! Hopefully I can find a fresh new style using the Instyle makeover tool. I'm a little nervous though because I'm getting my hair cut with a new person...but hair grows back right??

I have been to many hair salons and I still cant find a good hair stylist for my curly hair. Its more like a spiral curl (depending on the day if you know what I mean).
I will go to another one and let them know about the way that it has been layered, I am not sure if they are doing it quite right, because I do find sometimes it does bell out on the bottom and it totally bugs me the way it looks shorter on the sides and longer in the back. They always say "thats because you want it layered" it just makes no sense to me how I see others on the street with beautiful curly hair and mine just makes me so frustrated :(
My husband just knows to prepare himself for a grumpy wife on the day I go in for a hair cut.

Wow! That application is addictive! I gave myself an entire makeover for the past hour or so - makeup, hair, the works! It works so well. I don't even want to close the browser window so I can play around again later. Thanks for the link!
FYI rugbymom - I hear you on the curl situation. It's hard to find a cut that works well for both straight and curls. All I demand now is that they don't add so many layers that it thins out my curl and makes it look like I'm balding.
