Buying Sale Items

on Feb 20, 2016 @ 12:23 am

After today's beauty shopping spree at Winner's ($150), and Monday's beauty shopping spree at Shoppers Drug Mart ($192) and Wednesday's skincare purchase at Micabellà ($153) I have realized I have a problem. Or maybe it's the fault of the companies who keep making these new things I am compelled to try??? (No, it sounds like a good excuse but it's me). In any case, that's way too much to be spending in a WEEK on beauty products! I got fantastic deals and saved a ton of money on the sale items i.e. a skincare set (four items plus a bonus beauty bag) priced $99.00 for $19.99 but still, I need to find my self control. Just because it's on sale doesn't mean I should buy it.
Does anyone else have this problem?
Normally, I am a very thrifty shopper and don't spend a ton of money on products - I wait for sales, try before I buy, find similar but less expensive brands, thrift shop, etc.

I don't seem to have that problem I will buy something like that once in a blue moon but,it has to be at a really great price I'd rather try before you buy products

Not me, I only buy once and a while ,I just can't afford it

I generally only buy what I need and wait for sales and/or coupons. Makeup products don't last forever so I try not to overstock.

I only look for sales but I don't like to buy expensive things. If I do it has to be something I really need.

I used to be in your shoes but with clothing AND beauty products. One day I took out everything and started organizing stuff and realized some were unopened or the tags were still on. I made the decision to stop buying stuff and improvise with the things I have. Unless I absolutely need it, that's when I go and buy it. But that skincare set, I'm curious, it sounds like quite a good deal...

Sale items - edit on Feb 20, 2016 @ 12:00 pm

I should clarify, I rarely ever buy anything pricey - only if it's an absolutely amazing product and is worth every cent (usually skincare, not makeup). So the mica bella purchase is high but I got both the exfoliator and moisturizer on sale and they will last a long time.
The other purchases at Winner's and Shoppers were ALL sale items. Just A LOT of sale items. And big sale items. So I would say my problem is I can't seem to pass up a sale! Especially ones that are priced significantly lower than originally priced - like 80% off. The only other time I buy expensive things is with my shoppers points. I should also clarify, I am not wealthy so it's not like I'm throwing money left and right on anything I want all the time. This week was definitely a one off. I don't know, maybe it's because I've been feeling sad lately.

I use to buy on Feb 20, 2016 @ 12:04 pm

I used to buy a whole lot of stuff like that too , but not as much anymore , I buy mostly for the kids and donù,t spend on myself as much or very rarely , I try to use what i got . But I don't think it is too bad what you spent on yourself @Greeksbymarriage , if it is once or twice a year it is ok but if it would be every week than it could be a problem .

Thanks for the feedback. I have many items not opened yet. Many items.
It started off this week as "rewarding" myself because I quit smoking. But I've just been generally sad for awhile. All I know is it has to stop before I spend all my money lol
