So everyone and their mother RAVES about coconut oil. EVERYONE I know tells me that it does amazing wonderful things for their hair/skin/body/nails whatever. I seem to be the only person on Earth who doesn't like it. I find coconut oil wayyyyy too heavy for me. I can't use it on my face, it just breaks me out and I find it does very weird things to my skin as well, my body tends to get more ingrown hairs especially.
Does anyone else find this? What do you use instead?

You are not the only one to experience this. I have had issues with break outs on the face using coconut oil, and so have other posters on other websites. In fact, I have read that women of European descent frequently experience bad reactions to coconut oil, including redness and rashes. Coconut oil is too heavy to use on the face and should only be used by those individuals whose skin is thicker.
As a substitute, I use jojoba oil and emu oil. Jojoba oil is mainly non-comedogenic, and is most similar to the skin's natural sebum. Emu oil is also mainly non-comedogenic, but not vegan. Coconut oil has a comedogenecy level of 3.
Calendula oil is another good substitute that should not create acne.
