Has anyone ever cut their bangs at home by themselves? I have to wait for my hairdresser to get back which means my bangs will be super long and I have a big forehead so I need bangs...however, I'm terrified to do them myself. Is there a technique or any advice?

I find this lady to be pretty informative. I would personally watch quite a few youtube how to videos before trying it yourself.

I only ever cut my bangs at home. When I get my hair cut, which isn't very often, I do get my bangs cut, but otherwise I just do it myself. It's best to use small, sharp scissors and cut upwards, not side ways. Try some youtube videos at first, and start small. Just try a little trim, not anything dramatic, or you might not get the desired results. Hope it works out!

Just remember to only cut a little at a time so you don't screw up like I did and had to wear a hat or toque to cover my "oops" till it grew out, but luckily it happened in the winter so no one really questioned why my head was always covered!

Even if your hairdresser isn't around it costs less than $10 to get bangs trimmed at a low level salon. I wouldn't take this risk and do it myself in order to save $10 or because my stylist wasn't available. Even a low grade salon will have TRAINED hairstylists who can probably do it better than you.
Bangs are just NOT a DIY thing, IMO, but if you decide to do it yourself good luck.

I would be the last person to give advice on cutting your Bang.I tried to cut my own one time and it came out terrible,to say the least. It didn't come out cut straight across and I ended up going to my sisters house and getting her to fix it for me,never try that again. For sure.Good luck maybe a friend can help you.

I'm still traumatized by my mother who insisted on giving me "bang trims" when the hair got too long for her liking. I always hated seeing her with her scissors. It always looked bad and it was way too short as a result! My mom was cheap about it and it showed. I can't be bothered by watching YouTube videos either. I'm no hairdresser nor claim to be. I don't even like the idea of a friend trying to cut it either unless they did it professionally. I know nothing of hair and I don't even want to experiment. I'd rather pay someone to do it and who knows what they're doing. I'd rather have a good job and not be traumatized by Mom's scissors or by the ugly pictures that still exists.

it's very difficult to get the sides to look decent but it didn't look that bad! Thanks everyone
