Day to Night Makeup

When I'm going from work to a club or party, I usually just switch my lipstick color. What do you do when you're changing from daytime to nighttime makeup?

I'm right with you. If I am going from day to night and I'm in a hurry, usually I'll just add on a swipe of a bold colour on my lips. If I have more time, I'll do a more elaborate smoky eye as well. Sometimes I will just put some heavier eyeliner and an extra coat of mascara as well.

My day makeup tends to be quite plain, on most days I just wear bronzer. When I am going out to night I definitely go all in. I agree with you, alexjc and smokeyes2, bold colour on the lips, and heavier eye makeup.

I find another super easy way to jazz up my makeup look quickly (work-to-party) is sparkles! Hahaha, I bought some really nice sparkle blush at Sephora that sweeps on with a blush brush and adds subtle illumination to my skin. OR I'll but on a sparkly/metallic eyeliner if I am out dancing.

Another trick I used to do was use a makeup setter. Going from work (generally super cold) to a party/club (generally warmer) my makeup would get longer wear time if I used a setter.

I agree with these ladies! When I know I'm going out after work, I just add some dark eyeshadow and go for a smokey eye, especially if I'm going to a club or something with some girlfriends. If I'm going out to dinner, I normally skip the dramatic eye and use a darker or brighter lipstick.

I never wear eyeliner during the day, so if I know im going out right afterwards ill bring a liquid liner and do a quick cats eye or something. And lipstick definitely transforms the day to night look instantly.

Definitely, lipstick can add boldness or even subdue the rest of the face and focus the attention to the eyes.

I've only recently started to wear dark, dark lipsticks (black cherry shades). My go to in the past, and if I am in a rush now, is a fairly light nude lipstick. This has a surprisingly dramatic effect.

Haha, for instance, Nicki Minaj's look on the recent makeup on the cover of Elle. I know she got a big make-under here, but the nude lipstick on her takes the attention to her eyes and her hair. I know it's a quirky example but I thought I'd share : )
