DIY Face Masks and Treatments

on May 15, 2015 @ 09:32 am

Hello Chicks! Every few days, I like to relax with a warm bath and facial treatment. Usually, I make these treatments at home using turmeric and yogurt which I find makes my skin glow! Turmeric is a spice originating from India that has been recognized for its anti inflammatory properties and its endless benefits for over all health include anti aging, anti cancer, etc. Here is the recipe for the mask that I use for my sensitive, combination skin:

1 tsp plain yogurt
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp chickpea flour or rice flour
mix and apply on face until it hardens then rinse off with warm water

*for oily skin: add a few drops lemon juice to the mix*
*for dry skin: add a few drops of your favourite facial oil (almond, hemp, jojoba are good ones)*

This is one of my favourite DIY masks ever, tell me about yours!

Coconut sugar scrub homemade DIY recipe on Jun 26, 2015 @ 03:42 pm

You can also try making an exfoliating scrub out of raw sugar crystals and coconut butter. Gently rub it in circles around your face, let sit for 5 minutes then rinse with warm water and pat dry.

This is one of my favourite moisturizing masks! I mix plain yogurt with oatmeal and honey. I leave it on for 30 minutes then remove the paste with a cloth.

DIY Mask - for Acne Prone Skin on Jun 29, 2015 @ 01:08 pm

I have been using this Home Made Mask for many years - Simply a Whipped Egg White and a teaspoon of lemon juice together. Apply to face and let dry about 15 minutes and then remove with warm water. I found it really helps to sooth and dry blemish prone skin with no irritation.

I love DIY products. One of my favorites is coconut lime sugar scrub. So easy to make and is so aromatic and effective!

  1. Melt Coconut oil in microwave.
  2. Mix in with the sugar, until fully incorporated.
  3. Add the coconut and the Lime Oil.
  4. Mix together.
  5. Makes one cup of scrub.
