What does everyone do once you're done with a compact or lipstick tube
(that isn't from MAC)? Do you guys recycle them or throw them out? I
think MAC's Back to MAC program is great because it forces people to
recycle and as a reward you get more makeup! I'm going to look into
other companies that don't offer a recycling program to see if this is
something they would offer and why they don't. I know a lot of brands
now are becoming eco-friendly and using recycled packaging but there
are still a lot of brands that don't. I always thought that if there is
no recycling symbol on the package that means it's not recycable?

You know that tiny rim of make-up that is left in your powder compact that eventually breaks? Well I save those almost empty compacts, crush up the remaining powder and put it into a loose powder container. This way I use absolutely all of the product! (I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, sorry! This is more recycling product than anything else...)

lol didn't exactly answer my question but your tip on crushing the remaining powder into a loose powder container is a great way to recycle! I find a lot of times we waste alot of product therefore not getting the most out of our money spent. Thanks for the tip!

I recycle MAC containers and return them to the MAC store....6 containers for lipstick! I love it as it allows me to try new shades of lipstick and it is good for the environment.
|Press my pigments... on Aug 07, 2009 @ 11:44 am|
I have some old eyeshadow holders (The silver ring that holds the product, not the plastic part) and i use them as containers when i press my pigments. But yea i save a lot of my finished container and i don't even know why! hmm.. what else.. I do reuse my spray fix bottles and fill them up with water so that i can use it when i apply my foundation. I know that my aunt steals my used pumped dispenser and fills it up with baby shampoo so it's easier to use when she's bathing the baby... That's about it. I'm excited to see what other people do with them.

Did you know that if you return it to a freestanding MAC store you can also choose a lipgloss or eyeshadow? I did this last Christmas and got 3 shadows and 3 glosses! Sweet!

That's a pretty good idea pressing loose pigments into old shadow containers...will have to try that...once I run out of something! A lot of my stuff still look like new haha...
