right now, i have a normal sunscreen that I sometimes use. I use mineral makeup that has a very low spf in it, actually, all mineral makeup have some sort of spf. Anyways, I know sunscreen is super important but i've had such bad experiences with them. They almost always break me out or make my face red. So what do you guys use? Any good recommendations? How often do you apply? Reapply? How how is the spf?

Using Sunscreen on Aug 21, 2009 @ 08:43 am
Hi Mandy!

I do use sunscreen everyday. My favourite daily facial lotion is Olay Complete which has SPF 15 but I also use an additional sunscreen product for days when I know I will be outside a lot or it is really sunny (although I know UVA and UVB rays are still around even on overcast days).

Recently I have been using Avon Magix Face Perfector which is basically a primer. It has SPF 20 in it. (Side note, when you're using more than one product with SPF in it, I always wonder what your protection is. For example if my lotion is SPF 15 and my primer is SPF 20, am I really wearing SPF 35?? haha)

Lately I have been using Neutrogena Sensitve Skin Sunscreen Lotion SPF 60 (you can see my review here: http://www.chickadvisor.com/item/neutrogena-sensitive-skin-sunscreen-lotion-spf-60.html) I like it a lot. It does come out super white, but since I put make up over it, this doesn't matter to me.

I think using sunscreen is really important. I have been trying to start and maintain healthy habits in so many aspects of my life and I think neglecting sun protection would be silly given how hard I've been trying in other areas. Maybe I won't have a killer tan but when I'm old my skin will be happy and healthy AND I'll have to spend less on all those anti-wrinkke creams lol

Some sunscreens make me break out too :( on Aug 26, 2009 @ 11:10 am
Sometimes I'd rather go without sunscreen because of the itchy rash I get. I've used some mineral based sunscreens from L'Occitane and I did not break out. My friend also told me that baby sunscreen is really good for sensitive skin types so I think I'll try it. :)

I always use sunscreen, I have been using sunscreen on my face for well over a decade. I unfortunately don't use it on my body unless I am going to out on the boat all day or something like that, I tend to forget about it if I am just out and about doing whatever.

On my face I use Oil of Olay Total Effects SPF 15 regularly. A friend of mine just gave me Mary Kay's SPF 25 stuff to try on my face. So far I can't say I have noticed a big difference but it's probably just because I have been loyal of Oil of Olay since I was a teenager...

I use a Neutrogena face lotion daily that has SPF 15. I've been using this for about 10 years. Love it! When I'm outside for extended periods of time I use a Neutrogena sheer sunblock that is non-comodogenic (to prevent break outs).
