Embarrassing, is this normal?

So like a normal person I have blonde hair on my face and upper lip. However, the other day in the car when the sunlight was super bright, my upper lip hair looked super dark like a moustache.

It looks normal in interior light. I was so embarrassed. Is it time to break out the wax/bleach or is this normal?

I completely feel your pain. I come from a long line of women who have this issue(yay genetics!). I have always had a darker moustache since puberty, which I first bleached but now wax at home. It's quick, easy and cheap. Since I stopped breastfeeding this past August, I've got these on my chin and it's so horrifying. I wax these now too. My blood work came back as normal hormone levels. *sigh*. Doctor says to wait and see if it sorts itself out, if not I will be heading back in.

I really don't mind bucking beauty trends in most ways, but those dark hairs drive me nuts.

I do have PCOS, but so far I'm mostly unscathed except for a few dark chin hairs that I pluck.

It's just super weird that it looks normal indoors. And with summer coming up I'm super paranoid.

What wax do you use? Does it look really bad when they grow back in? Thanks!

I have found the same thing...not as noticeable indoors but glaringly obvious in the sunlight. :(

My favorite wax to use is Veet Wax Strips for face, bikini and underarm in Sensitive Formula. It's the one that I find is easiest on my skin and it also tends to be able to remove the shorter hairs better. As for growing in, it's not too bad. They seem to come back slower with continued waxing. They don't tend to look like stubble(thankfully). Sometimes the hairs come back slower and I just pluck as they show up but other times they seem to come back all at once and then I wax.

I tend to buck beauty trends as well as I see fit and just do my own thing BUT these hairs I cannot abide by on myself. On others, I don't care but on myself they make me feel quite self conscious.

i should mention that after a decade of waxing, the upper lip hairs were nearly gone and I waxed once a month, until my hormones apparently went berserk after I quit nursing.

I haven't noticed any darkness yet but i do have normal light blonde facial hair that glints in the sunlight. My Gramma has a very dark mustache and has for many years. She does nothing about it but if I inherit that gene I will likely wax. I do, however, have this wonky long black hair that grows on my chin. It takes me forever to see it and I tweeze it but it keeps coming back!!! It's like a never ending hair.

Mine is the opposite. In the sunlight it looks blonde and barely noticeable but in normal lighting it's darker and noticeable. I just use facial hair removal cream from Veet and remove the hair on my upper lip and on my chin once a month and it keeps it at bay. I've been doing this for years.
