|Do you curl? on Jan 09, 2007 @ 04:28 pm|
Do you curl your lashes often? Because that can cause coarseness and sometimes breakage.
What kind of mascara do you use? Because waterproof formulas tend to be a lot more harsh on the lashes, and not only that, they are harder to get off, which makes you scrub harder.
Have you ever tried putting Vaseline on your lashes? I find that that conditions them well if they are dry. Just put a tiny bit on your finger and blink several times, to get a bit on them before you go to bed at night.
But first see what the problem is. My guess is that there is a good chance that it is the mascara...

Yea I have heard that waterproof mascara is harder on your lashes. I don't use waterproof anymore and I have not had a problem with breakage....

I used to lose a lot of eyelashes when I used ineffective eyemakeup remover. I've also had the same results as Artist and MizzRobin with breakage from waterproof. I love the Vaseline tip, I'll have to try that!

I almost never curl my lashes and haven't used waterproof in years. I will try the Vaseline though, that's a good idea. As for the mascara itself, I know from the reviews that I use the same as mizzrobin and misschickie (Loreal voluminous), have either of you had these issues with this product? The only other thing I can think of is that it's a hormonal thing - I recently had my third baby - and I know that can do a real number on hair and skin...

Nope, I haven't had any issues with this mascara (which actually says A LOT because I am allergic to most mascaras out there). I made the sad sad mistake of trying the ones with the primer and both times I looked like someone punched me in the eye! I guess that is what I get for having sensitive eyes!

similar to vaseline, jojoba oil conditions and protects lashes.
not to mention it takes off make-up.
if you don't mind it being a little pricey, Talika has an eyelash conditioner and growth gel that i absoloutly love. i started using it, and noticed my eyelashes were all longer, and less sparse within two weeks. it's about $40.00, but i think it's worth it.
