Whether you do your own nails (real or fakies) or get your nails done at a salon, what is your favorite nail shape & length why?
I have professional products at home that let me do my own acrylics and gels but I haven't done it in awhile. I've been letter my fingernails get back in shape after wearing fakies for so long - my nails were so thin and cracking in the nail beds *ouchies*.
Previously, I've always done the squoval look (square tip but slightly rounded) and medium length. But now I'm more into short oval or a short stiletto (would that be almond shaped in nail terminology)?
I think a short stiletto is so pretty and fresh looking. I could never wear full length stiletto, even though I think it's beautiful. I'm too active, they wouldn't make it through a day!
I used to like the look of an accent nail too but I'm growing to like the entire set to have a slightly different design for each nail, but complimentary. It's harder to conceal chips, etc, but it's just so interesting and adds some drama.
What do you ladies think? What's your fav nail shape & length ? Has it evolved over time or do you stay with your signature look? Do you prefer the timeless look of a french mani or do you like to add drama?
@Dollysgrandma - I know you like your colorful nails based on a previous post. Do you get them done at a salon or do them yourself? What's your fav shape and length?

I like a more natural oval nail (or squoval like you!) and I keep mine natural as I prefer to keep my natural nails healthy and I have too many friends who used fake nails a lot of wrecked their nails.
Length wise I like the look of a little tip, but I always scratch too vigorously and hurt myself ^_^;
I used to bite my nails!

I always cut my nails to be short and squoval and let it grow to medium length and then repeat. It's easier to maintain and with today's touch screen devices, I type faster with short nails.
I would say about less than a decade ago when I was in high school, I used to accidentally grow them super long and everyone thought I had fake nails. It got to the point where some would forcefully try to "break" them :( Thankfully I have strong healthy nails :)

Normally I'm a squoval person with medium length but lately I've been wearing medium ovals or short rounded. The softer look of the rounded tip feels prettier for summer for me.

Short squoval nails for me. I keep mine short because of all the germs I deal with at work and since my nails grow quickly, I'm constantly filing them down. Lately, I've been so busy that I've been only applying a shiny top coat on my natural nails. I'm actually enjoying the minimalistic yet fresh look to them. I make sure to polish them beforehand with one of those shine buffers. This takes me a total of 5 minutes to complete. Really pretty look if you're pressed for time.

Medium squoval. I used to get the Gel French at the salon every 3 weeks. I decided to stop after a few years of that. My nails needs to breath. LOL
I can not keep my nails long like I used to anymore. My fingernails just feels dirty all the time if they are too long. Plus, I can not type with long fingernails :)

That's an awesome website. I tried to sign up for the newsletter bit I'm on mobile and I couldn't. I followed them on twitter instead. I love some of these looks. You've just inspired me to try one tonight. I love some of the pastel looks. So pretty for spring / summer. Thanks for the link!

I love almond shaped when I do fake nails, or squoval. With my natural nails I always do a somewhat short squoval. My clients all seem to want squoval but younger women seem to want almond a lot its really popular

I love French style short squoval. They look very feminine and while I like to see women with longer nails that's not practical for my lifestyle as I cook a lot at home and I also type a lot in my laptop

I really like the look of oval nails, but mine are terrible. They break off all the time.
