Fingers or brushes?

Are there any gals out there that prefer to apply their foundation and eyeshadow with their fingers as opposed to using brushes? I found using your fingers save on product and is cleaner than using brushes that may not get cleaned often enough.

I sometimes use my fingers for foundation. It depends on the formula I'm using. For eyeshadow, I prefer using brushes.

I always use fingers for my foundation and just use a sponge around the edges. When I've made a mistake and get panicked I often use my fingers on the eyeshadow too, haha.

I do clean my brushes around every second time though, I get a bit weird about germs.

I use both - I have a huge brush and sponge collection. It really depends on the product formula and where it's being applied. For foundation and concealer I usually use brushes and sponges. For contouring always brushes and sponges. Blush and lips often my finger. Eyebrows always brushes. Eyeshadow tends to be applied with fingers especially if it's creamy. Highlighter is usually with fingers (inside corner of eyes, under brows and on cheekbones). I've been so lazy that I haven't been doing a full face lately. Just mascara, lip gloss and tinted primer on my face. I do this after my skincare routine. Always moisturize, exfoliate and under eye cream.

At one time I was told by a makeup artist that it was best to use my finger cuz the oil on my finger would be good to mix foundation on my face. I found that sometimes when I have dry skin and use my finger, I can really see the flaky skin. So now I use the brush. I agree I think I probably use more foundation

Once you learn how to use each brush in a set, I guarantee you'll never go back to finger-application! (Ok - maybe sponging, though!)

I used to use my fingers to apply everything but eye-shadow and my brow kit, but I personally find that this was the more wasteful method. I always ended up covered in foundation and concealer, getting it all over my walls and floor, and blending was simply impossible! I always had finger marks going down my neck and chest... eek! I got my first brush set two years ago and invested in a cheap beauty blender, and will never go back :-)

Brushes create a more natural look, imho - but there are some lovely ladies who achieve awesome make-up looks using their fingers!

Mostly Brushes and Sponges....but on Jan 16, 2016 @ 06:53 pm

I am a brush, beauty blender and sponge girl! That being said - it really depends on the product I am using and the effect I am going for. But yes - brush and sponge cleaning is kind of a pain - a necessary evil though!

I am definitely a brush and beauty blender kind of girl. It is a hassle to clean them, but I find that using brushes keeps everything in place and makes my makeup look flawless!

I always use my fingers to apply foundation. I have tried sponges and brushes and i feel most of it gets absorbed into the applicator. :S

I always have and probably forever will use brushes. I will use my finger for eyeshadow to dab a bit of glitter on the eye.
