I'm lazy on Apr 20, 2011 @ 09:31 am
I rarely "put on my face" to run errands unless I have somewhere special to go (and that could be as casual as meeting friends for coffee or a parent-teacher conference).
Luckily, I don't have a lot of blemishes and although my skin tone needs a little rebalancing, it's not that obvious. I have 2 or 3 lip glosses in my purse and car dashboard, so I usually just slick on a little to add a touch of "doneness". Hair? Brushed/pony-tailed? Yes. Perfected and fussed over? Rarely.
I need to up my game though. Luckily, I live in an area where people dress very casually so going barefaced and with simple hairstyles blends in just fine. If I lived in a more sophisticated area I'd definitely put more effort in.

I'm the same now that I'm older, I just can't be bothered going through all that just to sit in the house, or working around the yard. I also live in a pretty quiet area and no one even gives you a second look around here. If I lived somewhere else I think it would make a difference in how I would do things.

And for some reason every time I go out bare faced with my hair all over the place is when I'll run into someone I know. Or someone will ask if I'm ChickAdvisor and then I'm embarrassed. Way to represent! But I think we all need to be comfortable in our own skin. I love dressing up and having my hair and makeup nice, but I don't think I look that shabby without makeup and as long as I'm not also dressed like a slob I think it's ok.

I'm happy to
I never used to but, on Apr 20, 2011 @ 10:31 am
Now I do it all the time. A little bit of tinted moisturizer goes a long way! When I'm in school I rarely get all done up because I have no one to impress I'm in class to learn and focus not to be in a beauty pageant. During my school term I also like to hit the gym before or after morning class so I usually don't care to get all done up if I'm going to go get sweaty before lunch anyways.
A good hair elastic and a thick headband are my go-to on those days.
make up everyday on Apr 20, 2011 @ 10:43 am
I have never even thought about this before, but I literally wear make up everyday. Now that I think of it, that's a lot of work! :\
I think it steams from my mom--not that it's a problem! She's always worn make up, and she's a stay at home mom! Usually it was just mascara and a little shadow. My mom is naturally beautiful and has nice skin, so for as long as I can remember the foundation, full eyes, and lip stick were for going out.
So I think because I grew up seeing it that way, I have never thought twice about concealer, mascara, and eyeliner being part of my everyday routine. I am happy with how I look, I just never go "with out" nor do I think twice if one of my girl friends meets up with me sans make up.
I don't think I have an issue with going out with out make up... I have gone for a coffee run and breakfast without... but when I get back--on goes the face. :)
Low-key at home, a little more oomph for going out or company on Apr 20, 2011 @ 12:40 pm
If I know I will be just sitting around the house, running casual errands or going to school or clinical then I will usually do some mascara, a little bronzer and a tinted lip balm at the very least. I don't really need it but it helps me to feel more feminine and less yucky! I'm blessed to have wavy/curly-ish hair so most often when I get up in the morning, I just have to run some product through it and it's good to go. Other times, a headband and stylish pony are my way to go as well (and now Spin Pins!!). It stills looks polished but is hardly any effort. If we are having company or going out, depending on what the activity is, I naturally will put in a little bit more effort!
Our husbands/boyfriends always tells us how we look so much better without any make up. So I have gotten into the habit of sometimes not wearing any at all when I'm at home. Somehow that's when my husband finds me the prettiest? I think he's crazy.

If I know I'm staying home all day, I put zero effort into my look. And I go out quite often without makeup - including to an appointment this morning - but usually it's when I have a quick errand to run and not for a whole day. My main issue is my hair. It's very thick and takes an obscene amount of time to look smooth so I admit I probably leave the house far more often than I should with it looking messy.
However, Coco Chanel made a good point that you never know who you'll run into when you leave the house:
"I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing
Only when working out.... on Apr 20, 2011 @ 08:22 pm
will I leave with no makeup on and even then I throw on a tinted moisturizer and some gloss ( I justify the TM with the fact that there is SPF in it though)
I usually wear a full face of makeup .....not necessarily because I feel naked without it (but I do) but because I LOVE makeup! I love color and I feel that the colors I wear and how I apply them say a lot about me! I haven't worried about what people think about me since high school!
