Okay ladies...I am admitting it! I have a disgusting flaw in my face...blackheads. You know those tiny (or not so tiny) blackish brownish coloured dots around your nose and cheeks? Well, I have a few of those and they just devastate me! I work so hard to perfect my skin: no pimples, acne, scars, scrapes, burns.....these annoying blackheads are wrecking it all! How do I remove the blackheads...please note: I have used the biore strips and it was a painful experience that left my nose practically skinned and my eyes watery! This is a desperate cry out.... how do I banish the blackheads for good? How do I get my current friends off my face and how do I prevent them from ever returning?

I highly recommend this ^^ Clean & Clear product! I've been using it for years and without it I would have blackheads too. I've used it daily and I love it. It picks up ALL impurities and keeps my face under control. I'd say I have mild to moderate oily skin. I've even posted a review here.
Clean & Clear has quite a few blackhead clearing products. I also just read about their blackhead eraser! I've heard good things so that may be worth looking into. I'd start here since Clean & Clear is a drugstore brand and is fairly inexpensive and from my experience, gives great results. Good luck!

I definitely agree with beachbabe. I would recommend using a Clean & Clear product. I find them to be the best brand for treating (and controlling) blackheads. Quite inexpensive, too!

I also have a problem with blackheads. Sorry to hear about your experience with the biore strips, I personally love them!
Since it sounds like you have a bit more sensitive skin, what I'd recommend is a really gentle clay-based masque specifically for deep pore cleansing. One that I absolutely LOVE and swear by is the Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque. You can buy it at Sally Beauty and Walmart here in Canada and I'm sure most drugstores/Target etc in the US, or online on Amazon etc. It is super cheap but SO effective. It tingles a bit, but in a good way. I like to smear it on nice and thick, let it fully dry, and you can actually see the spots when it's dried of the oil and gunk it's drawn out of your pores. Then a nice warm cloth and rinse it off. I use this at least 2x a week. I also use it as a spot treatment and leave it on breakouts overnight. Good luck!
Facials, steam and a fantastic skin care routine! on Sep 10, 2012 @ 08:30 am
I have a blackhead issue and what I've found is that getting a good facial (with extractions) on top of a weekly face steaming good skin care is helping me out!
I masque 2x a week-one of which is a pore-clarifying type. The other is hydrating. I alternate that with a decent exfoliation!
Leave the soap on longer on Sep 10, 2012 @ 10:45 am
I'm a big fan of facials and at a good spa they will do expert extractions and give you personalized advice that will make a huge difference, but for day to day maintenance the following are the easiest things you can do:
- Leave your cleanser on longer.
When you wash your face, start with warm water and then massage your cleanser in for a good couple of minutes rather than a quick on and off. Really massage the cleanser into the areas with the blackheads and even let it sit there for a minute before washing it off. This I think will be your most effective result aside from a facial.
- Use a lighter moisturizer.
Blackheads can result if your moisturizer is too thick for your skin. Do you have oily skin? Try using a lighter moisturizer or an oil in lieu of a heavy cream. I like Pure and Simple's Vata Oil.
- Have some foundation free days.
I don't know if you wear makeup every day but I find that if I have more blackheads than usual it is often because I have been wearing more foundation or powder than I normally do. I like giving my skin a day or two to breathe without anything on it.
Some of the toners others have suggested will probably help in breaking down the dirt clogging your pores. I don't use toner that often (maybe once a week) because some of them strip too much from the face, but a mild one will probably help you. Alternatively, if you applied something stronger like Neostrata once a week I think you'd see some great results. It is stronger though so be careful if you have sensitive skin.
Let us know how it goes!

I also used to have those sticky and contemptuous blackheads, i had tried many things like washing , rubbing, some times i used to feel like scratching it with needles and once while trying to do it i ended up scaring my cheek. it was very painful to see it on more to be not able to remove it, then a friend of mine suggested me IPL machine and that wonderful machine ended my problem.
As seen on The Doctors... on Sep 13, 2012 @ 05:16 pm
Here s a nice, cheap, and actually works way of removing blackheads. I ve seen it on The Doctors. Mix 1 tablespoon of milk and 1 tablespoon of unflavoured gelatin in a microwaveable container for a few seconds; just enough to either make it a little liquidy and/or like a paste. apply it to your nose and/or wherever you have blackheads, let it dry completely (sometimes longer is better too). Then peel it off. it will lift those blackheads out. works just the same as Biore s nose strips; just at a fraction of the price. Remember: it MUST be UNFLAVOURED gelatin. Good luck.
REALLY GOOD CHEAP DIY TIP! on Sep 19, 2012 @ 08:55 am
I have this very very usfull solution, I also have very sensitive skin, and i cant really use any product on my face at all, so I have been reading so many uses for baking soda, and beleive it or not this works wonders! I just cant belive it at all! My blackheads on my nose(worse ones to get rid of) are GONE! All you need is,
1Tbs baking soda
1 tbs of salt
1 tbs of your face wash or regular soap, i used water
mix them together, apply the paste part of the mixture to your blackhead area, make sure you put on a thick layer i used a cotton ball to apply mine. Go do your nails or something that takes about 5-10 minutes, wherever you apply this might start to burn and itch, but NO worries, its just natrually removing the blackheads. Rinse of very gently with no scrubbing use a wet cloth first. Do this about once a week until you are satisfied that they will not return!
SAVED MY LIFE :)
Hope this helps, please let me know if you try it and how it goes!
