How to get rid of a 'mustache' shadow?

Hey everyone!

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but I certainly do. For me, it's not a 'mustache' per say, its more like... a shadow there and there's no hair, but it's soooo noticeable and it drives me nuts!

Does anyone have any tips on how to get rid of it?

Thanks a lot!

pigmentation? on Jul 29, 2010 @ 08:53 pm

Hi Pinnkels,

You may have pigmentation problems on your upper lip. I have it too; it's a dark shadow, that I can't get rid of. To make it less noticeable you must apply serious SPF every few hours, and since that will leave your skin looking strange you probably have to apply some powder over it.

Hope that helps!

I have some sun damage on my face that includes a yellowing around the mouth. When I went in for a free consult at the local laser center they told me it's treatable with Fraxel. It's costly and I'm not doing it yet, but would consider it in the future if it gets worse and/or I have other spots I want removed.

Natural Gentle Solution on Jul 30, 2010 @ 01:17 pm

It depends on the source of your pigmentation. It may have occurred due to waxing the upper lip, which over time without daily SPF, makes your skin more vulnerable to the sun. In this case exfoliant/peels, bleaching agents and laser are options -- though they are quite hard on the skin and may give way to more pigmentation. If the pigmentation is all around you mouth and on your upper lip, this indicates it may be hormonal. Laser and IPL does not work in this case and you need to rebalance you hormonal system.
Rose hip seed oil is a more natural solution. Results are much slower than the aforementioned, but there are no side effects and it is excellent for healing/ supporting the skin. Also, SPF is really important, but make sure it is a natural/mineral block as these will give you all day protection so you will not require reapplication many times of the day unless you sweat a lot or wash your face mid-day.

Thanks guys!

I'm going to try out the sunscreen idea because it could be a pigmentation thing :) I'm so glad I'm not the only one in this case!
