I think its hard to get use to a totally new do. I mean I'm nearly 30 and the thought of a new hairstyle would give me a stroke. What specifically is it that you don't like? I suggest looking in magazines to see how females with a similar style wear it. You can just switch it up and have fun. :-)
Worst case (and I never did this before) you can wear hair extensions until it grows back or maybe go back and get it cut differently. There had to have been something you liked about it. Don't second guess yourself. :-)

The most extreme haircut I got was chopping nearly a foot and a half off of my hair when I was about ten years old, and I still remember that feeling of trauma when I saw how short my hair suddenly was. Getting your haircut differently from what you're used to, or going from one extreme (like very long hair) to another (like very short hair) can be difficult to adjust to for quite awhile!
You posted this a little over a month ago, so hopefully you've gotten more accustomed to your new look. If you're still not liking it, I agree with nscott884 - look through some magazines or browse websites to find some celebrities with similar cuts. See how they style their hair and find a look that'll help you feel more comfortable.
If you're still not satisfied with your hair, maybe a different color might help you? You've already gone with a new cut that put you outside your comfort zone, might as well go with another color! You can always dye your hair back if you don't like how it looks. And as far as your short hair, I bet it's already growing back, so you'll be able to play with it and explore more options soon!

New Cut, Not Satisfied on Mar 22, 2013 @ 12:20 pm

This is kind of odd advice, but my mother used to always tell me after a cut, to just let it settle a bit. Stylists always style your hair differently than you would and sometimes your hair just reacts a bit oddly to being cut. It need to settle and fall. Before you do anything, wash, dry and style your hair as you normally would. Sometimes a new cut just takes some getting used to, you need to learn how to treat it and deal with it. I like nscott's idea of checking out how celebs style a similar cut. If you are still unsatisfied, you can go to a salon and ask them to change it for you or, you could just embrace it. Remember: hair grows.

Completely understand. on Mar 22, 2013 @ 12:34 pm

I can completely understand where you're coming from, as I recently (2 days ago) just chopped off about 10 inches of my hair. It's such a huge change - and it's definitely hard to adjust to. But, I'm already starting to love it. Everyone needs a change once in awhile!

At least now you know what you don't like for hair styles
.. and the best news of all - hair grows back!

I'm sure it looks beautiful. You should totally post a before and after picture!

Be patient... on Mar 22, 2013 @ 01:18 pm

I agree with the other girls: new hair takes time! You need at least a few days to adjust to how to feels, and to how you look. That being said, if you're really unhappy with it (if just don't think it suits you, and it does sound like you wanted something different altogether and your hairdresser kind of hijacked the appointment) i'd go back and ask for another cut/style. Tell them it's not what you expected, and you aren't happy -- i'm sure they will redo it for you without charge or any hassle!

Best of luck, and like alexcj said: hair grows! So don't fret. :)
