I HATE HATE HATE my new haircut!!!! I got it from Salon Daniel @ Yorkville. I don't want to mention the hair dresser because this rant isn't against her. I'm sure she's great for other people, i just personally hate my haircut.
I had long silky hair and stupid me wanted to vamp it up so I went for the haircut.
I went from long layers to a mullet!!!!
The top of my head now looks like this:
The bottom is much longer... but I really hate it :(
She put such short layers on the top and thinned out my bottom so now my head looks very big and my end looks like a cat's skinny tail (especially when I straighten my hair).
Can you guys think of anything at all to either make it grow out faster or make this look more tolerable?
thank you in advance!

Well you probably might not want to allow scissors near your hair again anytime soon, but if you really hate it why not go back to the salon and tell them how unhappy you are? I've gone back weeks after I've got haircuts I wasn't satisfied with and they will fix it for free. You could probably get another stylist to work on it for you too.
Not sure if you have washed/styled it yourself yet, but if not, do it now! You might find that the style makes it worse than it actually is.
Otherwise, make friends with headbands, bobby pins, and clips until it grows out!

Why don't you get hair extensions...Found a review for some here too- Hairdo Salon Clip-In Extensions. Hope it helps.

I feel really bad for you. I would be really upset too if I got a cut I didn't like. What do your friends and family think? Are people complimenting you or pretending they didn't notice? Sometimes it takes time to get used to a new cut. You might hate it at first but eventually like it.
However, it sounds like that's not going to happen. In that case, I agree with Cathy that you should go back to the salon and ask another stylist to fix it for you at no charge. There must be something they can do to salvage it.
BTW, here is the link to the picture of the cut you were talking about

Ali - for some reason others seem to like it better than I do, but I really truly don't. I hope you're right, I hope I get to like it as time goes by. It's already been two weeks and the liking hasn't started yet, but I'm still hoping...
Jovanna - thank you for the hair extension link! I will definitely look into those for special occasions but i'm too low maint' (lazy?) to use those everyday.
Cathy - you hit it on the nail; I don't want scissors anywhere near my hair for a very long time! When I see how my hair was and now I could cry :'( also the stylist was really nice and I don't want to go back and hurt her feelings... I actually didn't like the cut as soon as she finished drying it, but I didn't want to say anything (i'm stupid, i know).
For now I'm going to stick to Cathy's suggestion and make friends with pins and bands and just hope one day I'll either wake up and it'll be grown out or i'll grow to like it as Ali said..
thank you all for your help!

I am sad to hear this. That sounds awful! The ladies above gave some great advice!
I can only add one more thing. Remember: Hair grows! It will grow out. I know it's hard right now, but I also find that hair has a tendency to grow faster in the summer time. Many hairdressers have told me this too!
I've had some bad haircuts in the past. I think back and remember how crappy I felt. But in a few months, it did look better.
Right now I would try to play around with a few different looks (as you mentioned with pins and bands). You might find a cool new look you like that you wouldn't have tried otherwise. Stay strong and good luck!

You're right artist ... hair WILL grow!! It may not look so now but it will.. right i have to keep telling myself that! my new mantra hehe
Really? Hair grows faster during summer time? I hope so! Thank you so much for saying so because you just made me feel better! :-)
Btw i love your hair!! I love how its so straight and silky.....even best of times my hair isn't that well behaved.

The same thing happened to me right before Christmas. I was so upset I ended up cutting it myself, I really wouldn't recommend doing that, especially if you've never cut your own hair before. I honestly thought he had just styled it in a strange way, when I went home I washed it out and saw that wasn't the case. It just plain sucked. I didn't want to say anything either, I certainly did not want to go back and ask them to fix it. I'm not that kind of girl, I'm quiet and quite shy.
My hair is finally looking better, I just had to wait it out. I wish I had great advice, I really don't. I just wanted to let you know it happens to us all and assure you that you'll have amazing hair again in a few months.

Atleast you know your hair will always grow back, I almost always hate my haircuts no matter who or when I got it done. The best thing you can do is try to make the best of it, and get some new headbands or clips or something and pin/put it up. we've all been there girl!

So i kept my hair tied this entire week, and now that it's (finally!) Friday, I untie it and squint at it in the mirror...but nope doesn't seem much longer than when i last saw it untied (a week ago)... sigh. hair does grow, and water does boil, but I think when you're watching for either, they maliciously take forever!!
you ladies are awesome thank you for the encouragement! i've bought some really nice clips and headbands, and discovered this "ouch free" elastic ties (i'm sure everyone in the universe knows of these but me!)
thank you ...... when it FINALLY grows out i'll try to track this thread down and let you ladies know :-)

I got a bad hair cut a couple of weeks ago too, and just hate it!!!! I just use clips and don't look in the mirror much. I forgot how bad and down a bad haircut can make one feel. I had just grown out bad color for two years and was waiting for a good cut and she wrecked it. I give up!
