For some reason I always break out when I'm supposed to do something on camera or before an important event. I have yet to figure out a quick zit buster. Anyone know of anything that works fast?

Not super quick. But it does the job pretty nicely... on Dec 14, 2006 @ 08:13 am

Toothpaste!

I know! I thought it was strange too! I picked up this little nugget while watching an episode of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy and it really works. You have to use plain toothpaste, no gels, no peroxide, etc. I buy the colgate trial size toothpaste because its basically the only version I can find that just plain ol toothpaste.

You put a little dab where ever you need it at night before going to bed. You may want to cover your pillow with a towel because it is possible that some of it will transfer. Your best bet is to ensure it is completely dry before falling asleep.

I start to use it nightly when I notice a zit coming and I can usually zap it out before it surfaces and/or the toothpaste dries it out within a couple of nightly applications. It does seem to work a lot faster than any other "spot treatment" I have tried so far.

An "instant" zit buster would be nice to know about. Let me know if you find anything!

Honey, do I have a tip for you . . . on Dec 19, 2006 @ 12:29 am

Honey is antibacterial and is a natural source of hydrogen peroxide. Also, calamine lotion will dry up the area overnight. See my post on "I'd like some clean pores, please!" for rollergirl concerning the use of egg white. I have tons of natural skin care tips if you want to know more . . . I hope that helps !

This product is great -- but you have to use it the night before because it does leave unsightly pink spots (from the calamine) where you apply it. I just use a cotton-tipped swap and apply it to my worst zits and by the next day they've essentially vanished.

As far as an "instant" zit buster, this is the closest thing I've found.

Tea Tree Oil on Dec 27, 2006 @ 01:25 pm

Tea Tree Oil from any organic/herbal product store.
If you get the oil, just dab on the pimple. I recommend dabbing the oil the night before. The oil dries it out. It has worked on my most painful pimples.
Or give the Tea Tree Oil line at Body Shop a try.

I use Benzagel...can be purchased at any drug store... it is stronger than most other drug store zit busters. I put it on overnight when I feel a zit coming on and it works wonders. Toothpaste works as well but not as quickly. Make sure if you use toothpaste that it is not a whitening toothpaste or Colgate Total...irritant to the skin...ouch!
