question about false eyelashes on Jan 21, 2008 @ 07:15 pm
My friend got married this summer and she brought along a pair of her eyelashes to her makeup artist on the day of her wedding. She's only worn those lashes once to try them on but quickly removed them afterwards. Anyway, when her makeup artist saw that the lashes were not brand new, she freaked out and flatly refused to use them. She said you are never supposed to re-use them because it's unsanitary. Another friend of ours had to run out to Shoppers immediately to get a new pair.
I believe my friend bought them from the MAC and the salesperson told her you can definitely re-use the lashes, esp. since my friend only tried them on once to see how they look, so she didn't really "wear" them.
So my question is... Can you re-use false lashes?? Is it sanitary?
Fave lashes on Feb 04, 2008 @ 06:58 pm
You're so welcome and sorry for the late reply! My fave lashes from MAC are the #7's because the separation of each lash allows your natural lashes to come through. I also love the #4's as well but I usually have to cut the width because my eye is not big enough. I just love how feathery the lash is. Here's a secret tip: we (MUA) aren't supposed to do this on regular clients but a lot of hollywood celebrities put the lashes underneath the lash instead of on top of your natural lash. You can't see the line at all and it totally looks like your real lash. I do this all the time and find it's easier to apply. It's tricky though because sometimes the glue gets on your eyeball but it goes away lol. I'm going to do a makeup 101 on my site so everyone can see the technique! :) Stay tuned!
reusing false lashes on Feb 04, 2008 @ 07:01 pm
I used to work at MAC and we always told our customers that you could reuse the lash as long as you gently washed it with eye makeup remover or warm water. However, the lash can sometimes lose its shape if you wash it too hard. I usually take the glue off with my finger tips then dip a q-tip in remover and brush it across the lash if there is any mascara on it. I can understand why the makeup artist would get upset but she shouldn't have if the lash was barely used and clean.
