For all you makeup junkies who love to buy, test out and collect makeup: do you follow a guideline for when to finally throw out the old stuff? I'm struggling with this because makeup does not come with an expiration date on the label but I'm sure it easily collects bacteria. What do you chicks think?

I use what I buy, if it hangs around too long I give it away before it is too old. Or, I just throw it out to be safe.

When it comes to eye shadow I usually keep it six months ,but for mascara and lipstick I usually toss it after two months

I struggle with this too. I try to use things up or give it away. I find the site http://www.checkfresh.com/ helpful.

I keep eyeshadows longer than the rest of my make-up. Mascara is thrown out after 2 months. If used it that long.

I find that after a while, my natural lip products, such as eos, and burts bees, develop a mold. After finding this, I recommend to throw the lip balm out after 1 month

I clean out my makeup drawer every three months. I throw out mascara and makeup sponges especially. I buy new all the time. I have seen some of my friends get eye infections (not pretty_. I never lead out my makeup either very easy to catch pink eye and more. Great Post.

Powders I tend to keep much much longer. Anything of a creamier texture though...watch out. I let my nose be the judge sometimes.
