Does anyone out there still do your own french manicure or is it a thing of the past?

I think it's outdated. I personally like funky and red colours

Now my toes on the other hand...I'm all about the funky on my feet. My pedi before Christmas, I painted 4 toes sparkly red, and the 2nd toe on each foot a Sparkly "Grinch" green

I love the look of a French manicure but my nails are so brittle lately that they're never quite long enough for one. If I grow them enough, intend to do it myself. Though, generally I paint a light pink or beige with shiny top coat.

I do my own, but not in the classic colors. For example, Pink with black tips, or Gold with bronze. I like to play around. Here's one I did on my Instagram:

I love French nails. I do my own all the time, but usually for special occasions or in the spring/summer. :)

I enjoy wearing a variety of colors, French mani included.

French manicures have become something of a "natural" look, which is still as elegant, clean, and timeless as it ever was. The look has just transitioned from being done-up looking, to being the ideal look of a naked-nail.

You can modernize the French Manicure in so many ways due to its simplicity. My favourites are angling the tips inward, or using a coloured edge rather than white or nude. Or, line your edge with a sparkling colour or foil sticker. Another easy way to dress up the French Mani is to use a matte coloured base - such as black, blue, or red - and tip it with a gloss in the same colour.

OR, most simply: ombre fade your French tip! Done with a sponge & blotting!

Anyone who says the French Manicure is out of date is out of their mind. Classic never goes out of style. And salons are over-rated when it comes to simpler nail designs. Mine charges $45 for a basic french or coloured tip! Better done at home.

If you're looking for a classy looking everyday manicure look I'd go with a nude or a light pink, maybe a sheerer colour.
