Perfume Help

on May 20, 2010 @ 12:19 am

Hi ladies,
I am on the search for a new scent. I'm not looking for a too floral or fruity smell. I'm also not looking for a musky scent such as CK Euphoria. I want more of a warmer scent. I really like Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue perfume which is more fresh but with a warm undertone. I'd like a perfume close to Shi by Alfred Sung. I don't like strong perfumes...Any ideas on what I'm looking for?

Thank you for your input. I will have to check that one out and see if I like it.

Perfume is so personal so it's hard to recommend scents. But I like sweet smells too and right now I'm into Nina Ricci's Le Paradis de Nina.

You are right, perfumes depend on body chemistry and what not. I was just looking for suggestions so I could go to the department store and check out what people recommend. Thank you for sharing your fragrance and the article link. I found a couple more scents to add to my list.

My friend recent bought new perfumes from Sephora. She said she consulted their "perfume specialist" there and she recommended several different scents. Then she gave my friend a couple of samples to try for a few days. It's a good service because most places (like the Bay) will tell you they don't have samples for you to take home. But it's so hard to test out the scent on a piece of paper or only wearing it once or twice. With Sephora's samples, my friend was able to wear each scent for a few days, narrow down to 2 she really liked and then went back to each to make her final decision. :)

That is a great idea. I forgot that they do that. I've gotten a sample from them before. Thanks for the reminder.

Shoppers Drug Mart also has samples to give out if you ask or are interested in a few particular perfumes. That's how I got onto my newest favorite.

Dang, I think that store is only located in Canada. I've never heard of it before. Thanks for the suggestion though.

I'm a perfume fanatic so I've tried a lot. Here are my suggestions for perfumes that have warmth without being musky:

Feerie by Van Cleef & Arpels

Anna Sui Secret Wish

Jo Malone Lotus Blossom & Water Lily
