I know this is a popular and sometimes effective method of cutting hair-but id like to know the pros and cons. i have fine hair and apparently its best for that type.

Just seems as if its a bit harsh i guess

I've had both on Jan 15, 2010 @ 08:52 am

My stylists have used both in the past. I have fine hair but plenty of it. My current stylist does the trim with scissors, then puts in the finishing touches with the razor, particularly the hair around my face. I was once told that using a razor cuts the hair on a slant rather than a blunt edge, which is supposed to reduce the problem of split ends.

Either way, I have never had any complaints with either way my hair has been cut. I too would be interested to hear if anyone has had problems with this technique. I would assume, though, that any issues/preferences are more related to the stylist's expertise rather than the actual method of cutting...
