I was lucky enough to receive the coupons from Chick Advisor a while ago and I absolutely lovee Sheer Infusion but have been breaking bucks for it until kaaatttmarie notified my that they sell it Dollarama for $2! I rushed there and stocked myself with whatever that was left on the shelf (about 4 left).
I'm just wondering, why would it be so cheap? How does Dollarama sell all these brand named products for just a buck or two? =\

Are they the same size bottles? Or are they smaller?
no way! on Jan 31, 2011 @ 03:04 pm
What a steal! That's a great moisturizer, you're lucky you found it for that price! I didn't realize they had lotions at dollar stores? strange.
yes, they do on Jan 31, 2011 @ 04:01 pm
Yes, I've seen premium brands at dollar stores and even Walmart before. There have been some who claim that these products are of a lower quality (perhaps past their expiration?) or "seconds" from the factory, but I doubt that as we're talking about major (inter)national chains here and I don't think that would be legal. I could be way off.
If you have any concerns, you can try emailing the brand itself and verifying that what's sold at such unexpected locations is the real deal and not some kind of knockoff. They will do anything to protect their brand image so if something's not on the up and up, they'll probably tell you.
Again, I'm making huge assumptions based on feedback ChickAdvisor has received in similar situations (scroll to the bottom)

carries all kinds of brand name products at discounts - Nivea, Charles Worthington, Schwartzkopf etc. They get theirs from buying out stores that shut down/went bankrupt - so usually not a seconds or expired products

It's just one more revenue opportunity for brands at a different margin. That's why you find the same product for different prices depending on where you buy it. I'm pretty sure it would be illegal for them to offer expired products even at the Dollar store. Likewise, they wouldn't swap the formula for something else and put it in the same bottle. If you find a good deal, take advantage. Many products have expiry dates stamped on them somewhere. I'm not sure about this lotion but you can check.

Ya I got a bottle at Dollarama last month too, $2 which is a steal considering Shoppers sells these for $10. I was skeptical, but the bottle is perfectly fine. Great find. I can confirm my bottle was full size as well. Looked for an expiry date and did not find one.

That is awesome!
I was suprised to see several 'better' brands show up at Dollarama...I got some awesome makeup brushes there which I love for $1.50 each. They rotate their inventory pretty frequently so I try to pop in once a week or so to see what they have.
it's pretty legit! on Feb 01, 2011 @ 11:01 pm
The bottle is full sized and works perfectly fine. I found it at the Scarborough Town Center Dollarama, so I'm unsure if they have the same inventory at different Dollaramas.
