I recently came across an article that showed the right and wrong way to wear a bobby pin. A lot of people believe that the long, straight side goes on the bottom and the wavy side on the top - but for those that haven't discovered the truth yet - that isn't the right way. In fact, the wavy part of the bobby pin was designed to have a better hold on the hair instead of slipping off, and the straight part is meant to hold it down.
I am ashamed to have been wearing it upside down all these years, but at least I used techniques such as tucking it back in behind the hair to have a better chance of it staying in for longer lengths of time.

Crazy! I have been wearing them the wrong way my whole life lol. I don't know that it really makes all that much of a difference though.

Okay, I've had it wrong all this time.. I would like to go flip mine around right now!

One thing most people are forgetting about when hearing this is they completely ignore that when you buy bobby pins that aren't plain the wavy side is clearly the side meant to be up. That being said, bobby pins unless they are fancy, are meant to disappear in your hair.

I just took a look at mine and they are wavy on both sides! I turned it over so the longer side is on top and it makes no difference to how it looks or feels..

I wear at least one bobby pin every day, and never thought to flip it around. Amazing!
|Hidden. on Sep 04, 2012 @ 09:26 am|
I always thought that bobby pins were meant to "hide" and hold your hair in place. I never really understood the fancy ones. Honestly, I've always been wearing them hidden.. I buy actual hair clips to wear in a style where they will be shown..

Thanks for teaching me something new! I had no clue all these years I was wearing bobby pins the wrong way!

I don't like the look of exposed bobby pins. I always tuck them in. But I've always had the wavy side down.

|still can't get them to work. on Sep 04, 2012 @ 08:37 pm|
I knew the right way to wear them but I could never get them to stay in place even Xing them doesn't help me with my thick, coarse hair.
