argan oil is a bit pricey... Have you ever tried coconut oil? It's a pretty lightweight and is cheaper than argan. However it's still moisturizing and nourishing, although not as much as argan oil.

This is really the only product that I find works well for us gals with ultra thick hair. Only wash 2-3 times per week and let her natural oils add to it. If her scalp gets oily you can use baby powder (sparingly) or dry shampoo. Oils are on sale all the time, doesn't have to be argon.
Does she have straight, wavy or curly hair?
Also, a big help is getting her hair thinned out regularly. Or you can buy your own thinning shears just DO NOT thin out top layers - underneath only.

Sorry I just saw she has curly hair. Mousse will help with that but I still highly suggest thinning and some type of oil.

For thick curly hair try Pantene smooth and sleek shampoo and Pantene smooth and sleek conditioner. It does work well

Mousse tend to thicken hair even more, so I would not use it.
