We posted today's mail on the blog, which was the summer 2010 makeup collection from YSL and it got us talking about waterproof mascara. Do you prefer waterproof or regular? Personally, I prefer regular because I find waterproof a pain to wash off and I've never had issues with smudging or running mascara.

I stick to regular mascara for the same reason as Ppolly. I like to wash my makeup off with soap, so I don't want to add an extra step to my nighttime routine!
I'd wear waterproof if say, I'm going to a pool party and I don't want to go sans makeup but I also don't want to end up with raccoon eyes! Although normally I'd prefer to just skip eye makeup altogether if I'm going to be swimming. I may also wear it if I'm going to be outside for a long time on a really hot day.

I think it really just depends on the brand name, but I LOVE the thickness that water proof gives.. But, as mentioned, it's very annoying to remove :(
However, I've never had a problem with regular mascara.
|Definitely waterproof! 100% for sure! on Jun 13, 2010 @ 08:59 pm|
My eyes start watering even if the wind is blowing too hard, so I definitely need waterproof mascara. Or god forbid should I start crying. Yes, I do that very easily. See some poor little dog on the street, etc etc. I am the worlds biggest suck hole.
Speaking of mascaras, I didn't get picked for the latest mascara product review, so I went out and got some MAC Opulash yesterday (review coming soon). I love it. Lots of product, much more than my old Plush Lash, huge brush and nice formula. HOWEVER, they do not offer a waterproof version. MAC is really bad for this. They make waterproof eye liner, bases, everything. But, as a rule, NOT waterproof mascaras. It really irks me. Which is why I rarely buy their mascaras.
I don't find that waterproof mascaras clump anymore than regular types. When I use either, I always have to let it dry for a minute and then brush it all out with a spoolie (get a free one at the Opulash display in MAC; they have big wands the exact design as the one in the Opulash tube, sitting there for you to use to sample the mascara - I took mine home with me and saved some money). I despise lashes that are stuck together, it makes women look ridiculous, so I will brush and brush. If that doesn't work, I get out my needle nosed tweezers and separate them with that.
Anyways, definitely waterproof. No matter what the situation, I know that I will NEVER have black crap running down my face.
|Waterproof mascara. on Jun 13, 2010 @ 10:56 pm|
Well, for one, I only own waterproof mascara - It's just always what I end up buying, I don't really think about anymore. Besides, I don't have an issue when it comes to washing it off or smudging. I guess you can say: "It's better to be safe than sorry". I'd rather not wear something that will run, than take the risk and wear something that might/will.

I have somewhat sensitive eyes, so my eyes tend to water a bit more, so waterproof mascara definitely helps my makeup stay on longer.
More importantly, though, my lashes are straight and flat, and waterproof mascara is known to hold the curl better! :)

I like regular mascara because I find that the formula works better for me. I've tried some waterproof mascaras and I found that they smudged on me throughout the day and became difficult to remove. I don't have a lot of problems with regular mascara especially if I used a primer underneath, so I just stick to nonwaterproof.

I've always stuck with non-waterproof versions. My eyes are way too sensitive to handle the added rubbing etc. it has taking me to remove W/P mascaras!

I get racoon eyes. I wear L'Oreal Voluminous waterproof.

i used to wear waterproof mascara all the time, but now i switched back to my lancome deficils (sp?). and i find that the non waterproof formulas create length, and the waterproof creates volume. dont get me wrong, i looove waterproof mascara, but my lashes need some break. even in the summer when im swimming i dont even touch mascara, so i dont need waterproof ones. only if i were to go to a special occasion where the day is uberly hot AND SWEATY. eeck.
