The first time I got my eyebrows waxed it hurt a lot. That was years ago though. Now it still hurts a bit but not as much as I know what to expect. The pain is very quick though, like ripping off a band-aid.
You could always tweeze?

Try this, it dulls the pain instantly: as soon as they pull the strip off, put your finger or thumb over the waxed part, for some reason that dulls the pain right away.

It doesn't hurt if you go to the right estetician. I would say since its your first time to go to a professional instead of the thousands of nail places that offer waxing in the city. Have them properly shaped and then upkeep probably every other week. I have a great waxing lady in Toronto if you need one.

I've done many an eyebrow on first timers. Yes it does hurt but it is completely manageable. If was excruciating and unbearable, it wouldn't be the number one service most women get done.
If your consistent with it, the first time will be the most uncomfortable, but after that it will get easier and easier. The others were right in that it's very fast. If it's a good esthetician they should apply pressure immediately after they pull the strip.
It's nothing to worry about at all. Anxiety will make it worse, but remember they do it ALL the time. 10-12 times a day. So it's really not bad.
What causes the pain is when the hair comes out of the follicle. So the more hairs that come out and the thicker the root, the more pain (even though it is minimal). If you've ever tweezed, it's the exact same amount of pain because it's the exact same thing happening, only more efficiently.
It'll make such a huge difference to get them done! You'll love it, and you'll look beautiful. It's just 15 minutes of your life for weeks of beautiful brows!
