According to Fashion Style Advice here are 12 things a guy should never wear:
1) Tank tops as outerwear
2) Socks and sandles
4) Surf-style necklaces
5) Stud earrings
7) Ugg Boots
8) Leggings or jeggings
9) Nail Polish
10) Tracksuits in public
11) Low rise baggy pants
Ok, spill it - does your guy wear any of these?

My hubby is originally from Europe, so he thinks nothing of socks & sandals. However, he only does that with his Birkenstocks from which I have been trying to wean him off (work in progress).
When we moved back to Europe several years ago, he started off wearing swim trunks but got so many funny looks that eventually he gave up and tried the Speedo. It took both of us some time to get used to, but it was so much more comfortable for him to swim in (and to be fair, that must certainly be true. I hated my maternity bathing suit - so heavy in the water).
Once he finally was a big fan of the Speedo, it was time to come back to North America. I think he wore that speedo one time at his parents' pool. His sisters made a few hilarious comments (and brothers-in-law averted their eyes), and the next day we made an emergency trip to the store for trunks.
He still has his Speedo though, in case we visit Europe in the summer. "When in Rome...", right?

@mumaluv - of course, everything is subject to our time and geographical location.

... but it's the adjustment period that's the most fun! (did I say fun? I meant hideously awkward)

#5 and #6. Being from Europe as well, the speedo is what I grew up with, so for me, it was strange seeing men at the beach with these large board shorts. But, I like the short shorts speedos better than the tighty-whitey shaped ones.

Speedos aren't such a bad thing if the man has a nice body. Just sayin'.
What's a Gillet?

A gillet is a puffy vest, they're ok for hiking and outdoor activities but the writers of the article say they are a no-no on a date or casual outing.

I'm ok with that for a casual date. If he's wearing it over a suit to take someone to dinner that is another thing.

...although it does look best on a trim figure. Heftier guys should stay away from this volume-building look.

I agree with everything, except I'm with Ali: speedo shorts on a built guy looks kinda hot, and definitely beats tighty-whities style swimmers, yuck!
if my guy wanted to chose between shorts and capris, I would def' vote for the capris; lesser of the two evils. Something about gangly hairy (or not hairy which is worse!) legs just takes away from the masculinity, me thinks.
I think puffy vests look fine as long as he's going to a casual, or outdoorsy sort of activity.

Men with shaved legs - ick. I'm sure in a few years we'll change our song. After all, it wasn't that long ago that a hairy chest was desired and now many men are waxing it off. But for now, I cringe when I see smooth hairless legs on a guy.
