i got a pair of really beautiful brown suede knee length boots last week!! they are so gorgeous that they make my closet look glamorous!! :-)
however i have been wondering what to wear with them. i read somewhere on a fashion blog that is basically a sin to wear brown boots with black leggings/tights.
i love black leggings cause they hide all my cellulite..and so i can wear short skirts and shirt dresses with more confidence :-)
so girls..gimme ideas...i have a hot date coming up! i need to knock him dead with my boots :-)

Everyone says there are rules in fashion, but there really aren't. Sometimes even putting things together that clash can work out really well. It totally depends. In the case you are describing it depends what kind of top you are wearing with it. You should avoid having one colour on top, one in the middle and one on the bottom as that kind of colour blocking rarely works unless you are wearing really fun, vibrant colours (and you have a killer bod).
I absolutely adore brown boots and you can wear them with pretty much everything. They will probably look better without the tights in the summer, but in the fall that shouldn't be a problem.
One trick I like to do is put on the outfit and then take a picture. Take a picture with and without the tights. Then load it up on your computer and look at it objectively. I know this seems like a lot of work, but sometimes looking in the mirror isn't enough. I generally find out an outfit doesn't work when I see a picture of myself on Facebook that someone has tagged. Then comes the regret (and the un-tag).

Brown and black together has always been something of a no-no traditionally but I have never really seen the problem, after all, aren't rules made to be broken? I think it goes in the same category as no white after labour day and all that nonsense.
What is more important is the textures I think. I can see brown suede boots with black sheer nylons looking really good. I would steer clear of anything exceptionally shiny.

I love black leggings and brown boots! They are great for a feminine equestrian style.
I suggest wearing a more transparent black legging, both under a large shirt possibly?
Here's an example found on Chicisimo.com:

I think you'll look great in them! If you choose a great outfit, feel free to post! I'd love to see what you came up with :).

I think this combo works really great, particularly for fall..go for it!

I've worn black leggings with brown boots tons of times. You just have to make sure the top you wear is appropriate. Jskim07 has shown a fabulous example. You shouldn't have a problem at all :)

For me I do not like brown and black together no matter what the items are. When I see people who wear them together (like in the picture above) I think that they are trying to look as if they just through an outfit together and it ended up looking really good, but in reality they spent hours and hours looking for a great outfit that would give that opinion I just can't get into the look at all. Then I see other people that you can really tell just really literally put the first things on that they could find and sad for them it was an awful black and brown mess. even though it's not something that I like or would wear of you like it and feel good in it then wear it!

personally, I just don't like brown anything. But black is neutral. technically, you can pair black with any colour. I dont see the problem, maybe if you put it together with another neautral-ish colour on top. As long as it doesn't clash with the boots.

Brown and black are both neutrals and depending on the shade of brown it will most likely look okay anyways.
It's all a matter of opinion, if you think it looks good you shouldn't let someone else tell you any different.
